Ben SalisburyLocation, specification, the reassurance of a guaranteed buyer, plus the option of staying in their old home until their new one is ready, all adds up to a dream move for bank workers Natalie Silcox and Alan Willmore.
The couple are looking forward to moving to a brand new Redrow home at Oaklands Park in Thundersley.
It’s a move they’re more than happy to make, even though they’ll face a slightly longer commute to work in the capital.
“We’re currently living in what was a new build home in Thurrock in Essex, but is now five- and-a-half years old. We wanted to move to somewhere that’s more family focused in an area where we could relax and where there would be things to do. We really liked the Thundersley area as there’s plenty to do, plus Leigh on Sea is nearby,” Natalie explains.
“In terms of property prices, moving further away from London offers better value. The journey time to and from work won’t increase significantly and because there are more things to do nearby we’ll have a better quality of life.”
Along with the location, high on their agenda was having a spacious living area and kitchen – plus it had to be new.
“We wanted to stay with a new build because everything is already done for you. You get the chance to choose how the interior looks, including choosing the finish of the kitchen, but you don’t have to do any of the hard work yourself,” Natalie adds.
“My Redrow has been really good for making our choices to create a home that’s truly our own. There’s a really good selection and you can pay for things as you buy them rather than adding a lump sum to the cost of the property.”
Natalie, 35, and Alan, 38, weren’t aware that they’d be able to Part Exchange their old home towards the cost of a new one until they spoke to the Redrow sales consultant at Oaklands Park.
“It was really quite straight forward – our house was valued, Redrow made us an offer and we accepted. Because of the time between making the reservation and our new home being ready to move into it made sense. If we’d sold on the open market we would have had to move out and rent somewhere else. This way we get to stay in our old home until we’re ready to complete on the new one. It’s made a massive difference,” Natalie says.
“I’d definitely recommend Redrow because of the choice of properties and the different interior options you can select from. The process we’ve experienced has been smooth and efficient and when we’ve had a question we’ve been able to speak to the sales team easily.”
The homes at Oaklands Park are proving popular with more than 75% of the development now sold and no sign of sales slowing, so the offer of part exchange will be welcome news for those with a property to sell who don’t want to miss out.
Kerry McCoubrey, sales director for Redrow Homes (Eastern), says: “Demand for homes at Oaklands Park remains high and we’re continuing to work with people like Natalie and Alan, who have homes to sell, to enable them to make their next move on the housing ladder. Many people find that part exchange is a convenient solution as it means they can avoid the hassle of selling and slow moving chains and instead enjoy the reassurance of having a guaranteed cash buyer. Not only can they stay in their current home until the new one is ready, but there are no agent’s fees to pay.”
