A Fresh Start With Shared Ownership

Posted 4 January 2023 by Helen Christie

Adrian discovered that Shared Ownership would be the ideal way to get back on the property ladder…

Adrian, 50, was living in a rented property in Tamworth following his divorce, when he realised he wanted to get back onto the property ladder.

His biggest concern was that he might not easily address the mortgage payments, as he would be offered a shorter mortgage term by lenders given his age.

He soon discovered that Shared Ownership was an ideal way for him to buy a new home, as he would need a much smaller mortgage than if he was purchasing outright and therefore the mortgage payments would be more affordable.

He found Orbit Homes' Savant Court development instantly appealing, as it is close to Lichfield city centre, but in a desirable and quiet area away from the hustle and bustle of the city. He was specifically looking for a new build home, knowing it would be low maintenance and more energy efficient than an older property, helping to save on monthly bills.

Adrian was delighted to find the homes at Savant Court ticked all the boxes, with integrated kitchen appliances included as standard, and light and airy rooms which were more spacious than similar properties he had seen elsewhere. Adrian had reserved his home off-plan and was thrilled to have the opportunity to view the house during the build and take photos before the plasterboard was fixed.

According to Adrian, the process of buying through Shared Ownership was easy, thanks to the Orbit Homes sales team who answered all his questions, guided, and kept him updated on the progress. He comments: “Orbit Homes could not have been more helpful and friendly in their service. I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking to buy a new property. The home that I chose has a perfect layout, with bright and spacious rooms. My friends and family are very impressed with it and think it's lovely, so I feel quite proud of my home."

Talking about Shared Ownership as a route onto the property ladder, Adrian adds: “It is a lot simpler than many people would think, in fact, it was easier to get through with this purchase than it was to buy my last car”.

Savant Court is situated on the northern outskirts of Lichfield and offers a collection of two-, three-, and four-bedroom homes, for sale exclusively with Shared Ownership.
