Couple Find Their Ideal First Family Home In Old Catton

When Samantha Wells and Simon Higgins were looking to step onto the property ladder and settle into a family home, high house prices in their local area presented a real challenge. They decided to move to Norwich to be closer to family, and soon found their ideal first family home at Orbit Homes’ Dovecote Gardens in Old Catton.

Samantha and Simon had been living in Putney, London and whilst they enjoyed their lifestyle there, they were keen to settle down and buy their first family home together. With house rental and purchase prices so high, they decided a change might just be what they needed for the next chapter in their lives, as Samantha explained:

“We both enjoyed living in Putney, we had everything we needed on the doorstep and could take lovely walks by the river. However, buying wasn’t an option for us there and rental prices were becoming more and more unaffordable.

“Simon’s dad had lived in Norwich for many years and we’d had many happy visits there so we thought it would be an ideal place to buy our first home together. At the same time, we were excited to find out that we were expecting our first baby, so decided to opt for a new build that we could settle straight into without too much work.

“We viewed a few new build developments, but Orbit Homes’ Dovecote Gardens really stood out. It’s really peaceful but close enough to the city centre and Simon’s dad. We chose the ‘Cardington’ as we loved the layout, especially the patio doors from the kitchen to the garden. Also, there were so many things included as standard such as downlights and flooring, all things that would’ve added to the price elsewhere. It was lovely to be able to put our own touch on the place. And, having not had a garden for eight years and with a little one on the way, having some outside space was a dream come true. In fact, we adopted our dog, Chunk, as soon as we moved in as it was the first time we had space for a dog!”

“We have had many friends and family to visit which has been lovely. We now have the space to put them up when they come to stay which they love. Overall, we’re so thrilled to be in our new home, with our new baby and dog, it’s the perfect start to our life as a little family.”
