New Home For Growing Family In South Lanarkshire

With a new daughter on the way, Charlotte and Eoin found an ideal new build home in the sought-after village of Bothwell...

While 2020 may have been a challenging year for many, there were some very special moments for Charlotte Gibson and her partner Eoin. Not only did their son Finlay (4) become a big brother to baby Imogen in August, but they also found their dream home at Miller Homes' Bothwellbank.

Since moving in September, the family has been enjoying settling in at the development in the conservation village of Bothwell. Charlotte (37) and Eoin (35) were looking to upsize and quickly snapped up the chance to buy their forever home development, the four-bedroom ‘Grant’ house type, perfectly sized to accommodate the family.

Charlotte said: “I can't quite believe how lucky we got with this home. We lived in a three-storey townhouse with Finlay before Imogen came along and needed something a bit more practical for our family. Eoin and I used to live in a flat in Bothwell and fell in love with the village.

“We had been disappointed one too many times in bidding wars, trying to secure a second-hand home in Bothwell – it’s so popular and so competitive. We fell in love with the ‘Grant’; it was one of the last homes in the first phase at Bothwellbank, and we jumped at the chance to reserve it! As we had secured our dream home, a weight was instantly lifted, as we didn't need to worry about the repairs that come with an older home.

“We fell in love with Bothwellbank as soon as we visited – the homes were just beautiful. The ‘Grant’ was perfect for us, with a lovely open-plan layout downstairs and a home office at the front. My favourite part of our home is the open-plan kitchen and living area that faces the back garden. I'm in there every morning enjoying a coffee on the couch as the sun shines through the French doors. It's the hub of our family home, and I'm sure we'll make great use of alfresco dining as we enter the warmer months.

“Eoin and I are both delighted to have a garage. It's great for additional storage and somewhere we can store Finlay's garden toys. We also love the bathroom upstairs, which has a shower and a separate bath – great for our little ones.”

The number one priority for the couple was location, as Charlotte continued: "It was really important for us to find a home with a good school catchment area for Finlay, somewhere the kids could grow up and feel safe. We just love how charming Bothwell is, with a selection of lovely boutiques, bars and restaurants in the area and some fantastic woodland walks to enjoy.

"I'm a high school drama teacher in Glasgow, and Eoin is a surveyor working in and around the city, so for us, the strong commuting links were a huge selling point."

Charlotte was really impressed with her Miller Homes journey: "From start to finish, the buying process was smooth and simple. Our fantastic development sales manager went above and beyond, making sure we settled into our new home with ease. Although Covid-19 put a slight delay on our move, we couldn't be happier with how everything turned out – the original day we were supposed to get our keys, I gave birth to Imogen!"

The hugely popular Bothwellbank development has now sold out, but find out more about current Miller Homes developments across Scotland.
