Ben SalisburyA student from Maidstone was among the first to view Bellway’s new show home at the West End Quarter development in Folkestone, as she designed one of the rooms.
Isabel Willson, 17, who is an A-level student at Invicta Grammar School, did work experience at Bellway Kent over the summer and while she was there she had the opportunity to work in the marketing department, creating a mood board for the new home.
Her ideas for a glass elevator cloakroom were incorporated into the interior design scheme and she was among the first to see the room when the show home opened on 29th October.
Isabel said: “The whole house is inspired by Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl.
“We’ve decorated the cloakroom ceiling with clouds and sky, and we’ve stuck buttons to the walls just like the Great Glass Elevator.”
This year would have been Roald Dahl’s 100th birthday and the team was inspired by the opening of the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory show in London’s West End.
Isabel applied for work experience through a family member who works for the company and was given five days’ experience across several departments, including marketing and sales.
She said: “I was interested in marketing as a career so wanted to get some experience of what it would be like.
“I really liked seeing all the individual departments but most enjoyed working with the sales manager because I got to speak to lots of people about their new homes, so I can possibly see myself doing a job like that in the future.”
Isabel is currently in her first year studying business, maths, classical civilisation, and government and politics at A-level.
About 20 people visited the show home when it opened on Saturday, not including those who have already reserved their homes to be completed by summer 2017.
Complementing the historic West End of Folkestone, the Bellway development comprises two, three and four-bedroom homes with prices starting from £274,995.
