Helen ChristieSearching for her first home in London, Graziana D’Emilio viewed 30 different properties before she saw the apartment that she knew immediately was the one she wanted to live in.
Graziana, who works for Amazon as a project manager in the city, says: “I looked in many different areas of London and must have viewed around 30 places before I saw the one that stood out above all the others at London Square Croydon. I was so impressed by the quality of the finish, the layout and the convenience of the location. I made an offer less than 24 hours after the first visit.”
Graziana, who moved from Wembley Park, purchased a one bedroom apartment in the sleek 21-storey block at London Square Croydon, a new development by the WhatHouse? Award-winning developer London Square and designed by Assael Architecture, in the heart of Croydon. A large piazza will form part of the development, with shops at street level.
The apartment’s winter garden, an all-year round feature with large windows to give that feeling of outside space during the summer months, really caught Graziana’s eye. There is also underfloor heating in the winter garden so residents can continue to use it during the colder months.
She says: “I am really looking forward to creating a lovely area for relaxing. I plan to put my Peloton in it, with a corner for sitting and chatting with friends and enjoying an aperitivo once the working day is over. It has lovely views over St Michael’s Church. I also love the wide windows in the apartment which let in so much light. Croydon is very convenient for transport and I can see potential for the future in the town. Being well connected is a must for me as I travel a lot.”
All the apartments at London Square Croydon have high specification interiors and finishes and underfloor heating throughout. It offers a spacious kitchen with matt units and integrated appliances opens onto the dining and living area, with black framed doors to the winter garden, which also has underfloor heating for all year-round use. There is a choice of one-, two- or three-bedrooms, en-suite bathroom and a family bathroom, each styled with black brassware, full height mirrors and storage. In the hall, a large utility cupboard houses a washer dryer and there is additional storage space.
The first residents are now moving in and once completed, will have access to roof terraces with panoramic views over London and beyond, a landscaped podium garden, plus a residents’ lounge with wifi. There is 24-hour concierge, a video entry system and CCTV to external areas provide additional security, with cycle storage on the first floor with its own cycle lift. At street level there will be shops and offices, with an attractive piazza that will form part of the development, opening up views to the listed St Michael and All Angels Church.
There are good rail, overground and tram connections from nearby West Croydon station. East Croydon station is a 12-minute walk, with trains to London Bridge in just 14 minutes and fast connections to London Gatwick airport, plus excellent bus services, plus major road links to the capital and the coast.
