A House Twice The Size For Kris And Samantha
Almost a year after selling their old two-bedroom terraced house, Kris and Samantha Turner-West were delighted to receive the keys to their brand new home at Jones Homes’ Wentworth View development in Thorpe Hesley, near Rotherham.
The couple, along with their one-year-old son, Charlie, and beloved jackapoo, Oscar, had spent the 11 months living with Kris’ parents while they searched for their perfect new home, and it was well worth the wait, as they secured a four-bedroom detached home more than twice the size of their old house.
The couple, who previously lived around five miles away in Clifton, Rotherham, were the first residents to move in at the development late February.
Kris, 31, said: “Our previous place required lots of renovation work over the six years we lived there; the walls had to be plastered and we had to fit a new kitchen and bathroom.
“We had our heart set on a new-build as the idea of moving straight into a fresh new home really appealed to us. We were keen to sell our old property to be in the best position possible to find and secure our dream house.”
The pair had their eye on Wentworth View from the early stages of construction and went to visit it last July, soon after the sales office opened.
Kris said: “We’d visited Jones Homes’ developments in Holmfirth and Worksop, so we knew the quality of build was good. Their properties stood out compared to other developers and we thought they had made excellent use of space.
“Wentworth View’s location was also ideal as we have lots of family ties to the area. Samantha’s sister works in Wentworth and her brother-in-law owns a business here. We also have other extended family who live in the area too.
“We reserved in August shortly after visiting the development and couldn’t wait to move in once it was built. Gail, the sales advisor, was also really nice and helpful throughout the whole process.”
Situated within minutes of the M1, the development is perfect for Kris and Samantha’s commutes to work.
Samantha, a 28-year-old HR manager, is just a five-minute drive from the office, while Kris, a sales manager for an outdoor living company, can easily access the motorway for travelling across the UK for his job.
Upsizing to a four-bedroom detached home means the family now have two extra bedrooms. Kris said: “This house is about two or three times bigger than our last home, so the difference is remarkable. All the bedrooms are a fantastic size and we’ve transformed one of them into a home office which has been really handy.
“We’ve fallen in love with the kitchen and dining area the most. The marble-effect flooring we chose really opens up the space and the area is flooded with natural light.”
Aside from the quicker commute to work, the family are also enjoying their new surroundings.
Kris commented: “We’re surrounded by lots of nice walking routes; we’ve been particularly enjoying our daily morning stroll to Hesley Wood. For retail, there’s plenty of shops nearby. The development really does have everything you need.”
After a couple of weeks living alone at the development, they were soon joined by two new households.
Kris said: “Our neighbours have been really friendly so far and it already feels like a nice new community is beginning to form.”
Wentworth View is a range of three-, four- and five-bedroom homes. Prices start at £234,995 for ‘The Birch’, a three-bedroom semi-detached home. Find out more at jones-homes.co.uk.
