Move Before Lockdown Brings Positives For Young Couple

After reserving their dream waterside apartment at Inland Homes’ Chapel Riverside in Southampton earlier this year, George Putnam and Emily Pearson moved in just a few days before the UK lockdown and have loved spending their time making their home their own, learning new skills and enjoying their fabulous new river view.

Emily explains: “We are delighted that we moved into our apartment just days before lockdown. We waited two years to move into our dream apartment as we wanted a river view and now we have been able to fully enjoy lunch each day on the balcony and even a spot of sunbathing! We have had to learn some new skills, like hanging up a curtain rail and assembling furniture, as my dad obviously couldn’t help us, and whilst moving in we were able to meet some of our new neighbours.”

“I am enjoying working from home, as our apartment is really spacious and light and our broadband and wifi have been great. We are also doing lots of activities like walking every day around Ocean Village, down to the harbour and across to Queens Park, reading and cooking. We are now looking forward to meeting our new neighbours and welcoming George’s colleague who is moving in next door.”

The couple met six years ago when they studied at Southampton Solent University and have lived in the area since, renting a property near Chapel Riverside. George works in Southampton as a teacher at a technology company, while Emily is a sales advisor in the new homes industry and currently works near Portsmouth. They have friends who have bought at the development and have been interested in buying at the development for the past two years, choosing to wait for their exact apartment to ensure a riverside location. This also gave the couple more time to save for their deposit.

George explains: “We love the design and location of Chapel Riverside and really wanted a riverside view, so we waited a few years to get our exact apartment choice. Emily works in the new homes industry and was particularly impressed by the generous size, specification and value for money, and as we have friends already living at the development, it really was the perfect home for us. We were also able to use the government’s Help to Buy scheme to buy our new home.”

Chapel RiversideCurrently available to reserve with a £99 reservation fee until the end of the lockdown period, the waterfront apartments at Chapel Riverside comprise a luxury collection of one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments overlooking Southampton’s charming River Itchen.
