Helen ChristieA couple who viewed more than 20 show homes by almost as many housebuilders say finding their Hayfield home was something of an epiphany.
After moving into their three-bedroom detached Avon home at Hayfield Walk in Hanslope, Emma Lewis and Jason Moulds say the quality and specification of their new home is beyond any other properties they looked at, and the customer service they have received is outstanding.
Emma says: “We knew it was the one right away. Even though the house was just a shell, with bare brick and floorboards, we knew it was exactly what we had been looking for.”
Hayfield Walk is a development of 101 new homes in the picturesque Buckinghamshire village of Hanslope offering a greener way of living via air source heat pumps, energy-efficient underfloor heating, electric vehicle fast-charging points, 100% renewable energy, and ultra-fast broadband.
Each kitchen includes a range of built-in Bosch appliances, while the dedicated study or smallest bedroom has improved sound performance construction to create the ideal work from home environment. Other features include ROCA/Laufen bathrooms, Minoli ceramic tiles, heritage bronze ironmongery, Farrow & Ball paint and Ring doorbells.
Emma, 43 and originally from Windsor, and Jason, 46, from Newport Pagnell, have been together for two years, and both had a property to sell when they decided to buy a home together.
Emma continues: “Our new build journey has been tough. We lost two of our reserved houses with other developers due to Jason’s sale falling through.”
Jason picks up the story: “One of the houses that fell through for us was opposite Hayfield’s Woburn Sands development. We wanted a house with a large footprint but didn’t need four bedrooms. Nothing was quite right, so the sales advisor suggested we have a look at Hayfield Walk in Hanslope. To be honest, we thought Hanslope was too far out and dismissed the idea at first. But then we came and looked at the Avon, which was built but not fitted out – just brick and board. It was just a shell of a house but it was perfect.”
Both claim to be “a bit fussy” but after looking at “every brochure by every builder” and probably around 20 show homes, the couple were delighted to move into their new Hayfield home in late September - where they have taken the concept of a new build blank canvas to a whole new level! Not only did they sell both of their properties they opted to start completely afresh and sold all of their furniture as well.
Emma adds: “It’s wonderful to be in, so exciting, and everyone at Hayfield has been amazing. The personal touch is really special – there were robes, towels, toiletries, all giving our new home the look of hotel, and it means so much. I don’t think either of the houses we lost were 100% right for us, but I can honestly say that the Avon ticks every box: 3 bedrooms, super large kitchen diner with bifold doors, kitchen island, double oven and so much downstairs space.”
And Jason adds: “The specification on all Hayfield homes is well beyond any other properties we looked at; simple things like the door handles and the Ring doorbell, to the quality and extent of the bathroom tiles and Emma’s favourite room in the house, the dressing room!”
The eco credentials have proved popular too. Despite soaring energy prices being in the news every day, Jason was pleasantly surprised when their energy provider set the monthly direct debit at a very reasonable £100 per month.
Both Emma and Jason love the village feel of Hanslope, with its local pubs, shops and easy access to Milton Keynes, Towcester and London – Jason commutes to the capital where he is a supervisor on the railways. And Emma, a customer success manager for a tech company, enjoys the community spirit of the development itself where she says everybody looks out for each other.
The house, despite its initial lack of furniture, is starting to take shape, with multiple furniture deliveries every day, and Jason has proved himself to be very handy – particularly with an Ikea flat pack! Emma started her @myhayfieldhome2022 account while they were house hunting, and it documents the initial dream house goals, through excited updates, and later styling progress.
Jason says: “I think our style is a kind of minimal contemporary. We love the garden. We’re not overlooked by anyone, we get the sun all day, and with the bifold doors open it will just be the most amazing space for entertaining next summer.”
There’s lots to do and lots of memories to make, but for now, the couple are enjoying settling in and showing off their new Hayfield home to friends and family.
