Relocation From London For Young First-Time Buyer Couple

Keith OsborneA young married couple have relocated from north-west London to the Bedfordshire village of Silsoe, making their first step onto the property ladder with a luxury three-bedroom former show home at Hayfield Place, using the government’s Help to Buy scheme.
29-year-old Victoria Garratt is a lettings manager for Foxtons estate agents, while husband Jonathon, aged 30, is a senior brand designer for Avanti West Coast Rail. They chose Hayfield’s ‘Hatton’ home design, which features three double bedrooms, luxury bathrooms, a spacious kitchen/diner and an integral garage.
Victoria said: “We both grew up in the countryside and wanted to buy a home in a rural village location with a good local pub, where we could go on scenic walks and runs right from our front door. We had a large search area because my husband works in King’s Cross and I work just off the M1 – in many ways the choice of location was too great. Some good friends were also looking to move out of London and bought a house in Silsoe. They recommended we look at Hayfield Place and the rest is history! We fell in love with the three-bedroom ‘Hatton’ show home on our first visit.
“What really captivated us about this development is how spacious it is, the exceptional quality and character within each home and the generous gardens. While we were originally looking at second-hand homes as well as new, we realised neither of us had the time to take on a refurbishment project. We are so happy to have moved into our own slice of the Bedfordshire countryside and have the grandeur of the English Heritage Wrest Park Estate on our doorstep.”
The 14-acre Hayfield Place scheme is located off Silsoe High Street, which offers an array of local amenities, recreational facilities and schooling. Hayfield Place has been designed to reflect architectural styles. There are 14 house types constructed in red and buff brick and render. Inside, things are thoroughly up-to-date with underfloor heating, Laufen bathrooms, Minoli ceramic tiles, Hammonds fitted wardrobes, Farrow & Ball paint, heritage bronze door furniture and bi-fold doors. The bespoke kitchens designed by Manor Interiors include a range of integrated Bosch appliances, such as multifunctional ovens, an induction hob, dishwasher and an instant hot tap.
Featuring 105 two-, three-, four- and five-bedroom bungalows and executive family homes, the prices for the current release range from £475,000 to £749,000. There are still homes available that qualify for both the Stamp Duty holiday and the current Help to Buy scheme – both of which will come to an end in March 2021.
The nearby towns of Milton Keynes, Luton and Bedford offer a wealth of shopping, restaurants, entertainment and sporting facilities. Luton airport is 12 miles away, and Flitwick Railway Station is four miles away, making it an ideal location for those wishing to travel for pleasure or commute.
At the 2019 WhatHouse? Awards, Hayfield was crowned Best Small Housebuilder, and the growing company won Bronze in the Best Medium Housebuilder category this year.
Hayfield Place is open to visitors seven days a week from 10.00am to 5.00pm by appointment.
