Relocating First-Timers Use Help To Buy In Warwickshire

Posted 28 January 2021 by Keith Osborne

Rebecca and Ashley moved from renting in Solihull to owning their own high-specification house at Hayfield Grange...

A young couple have relocated to the Warwickshire market town of Southam, making their first step onto the property ladder with a high-specification, three-bedroom home at Hayfield Grange, utilising the government’s Help to Buy initiative.

Rebecca Lambird, aged 23, is a customer support agent for global fitness brand Gymshark, while 25-year-old Ashley Smith is a firefighter based at Coventry Community Fire Station. The couple benefitted from housebuilder Hayfield’s Key Worker Discount scheme, which gives a £5,000 discount off the price of any home across its development portfolio to purchasers who meet the government’s definition of a key worker.

Rebecca said: “We met at university in Cambridge and have been together for five years, so we were keen to buy our first home. We had a really wide search area because we set our hearts on buying a three-bedroom home, but there was nothing suitable that we could afford in Solihull, which is where we had been renting. We came across Hayfield Grange in Southam and literally made our mind up on the first viewing. The quality of the homes was in a different league to anything else we’d seen. By using Help to Buy we could afford a beautiful three-bedroom Hatton home with a garage.

“We reserved off-plan to secure our preferred home and immediately started to gather design inspiration from Instagram and Pinterest. We created the Instagram account @46_Hayfield to document all the stages and share photos of furniture, accessories, and art that we have bought new, pre-loved, or created ourselves. Having a home Instagram account has enabled us to connect with other neighbours on the Hayfield Grange development before we even moved in. We’ve picked up some great ideas for our house too!

“The developer – Hayfield – has made us feel so special throughout the journey of buying our home, on the day of completion and since we’ve moved in too. We can’t thank them enough and we keep pinching ourselves that we live in such a high-quality, beautiful new home.”

Comprising 51 two-, three- and four-bedroom houses and bungalows, Hayfield Grange has sold ahead of the build programme. The scheme – which is located within easy reach of Southam town centre – is in the final phase of construction, with all the homes already matched with buyers.

Hayfield’s signature attention to detail is visible throughout each home. Features include the bespoke Symphony kitchens with glazed wall units, Roca bathroom suites, Porcelanosa ceramic floor and wall tiles, fitted wardrobes by Hammonds, Farrow & Ball paint to woodwork, heritage bronze ironmongery and turfed front and rear private gardens.

WhatHouse? Award-winner Hayfield has other live development sites in Oxfordshire, Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Buckinghamshire and Wiltshire, where prices for homes currently start from £320,000.
