First-Time Buyers Find Dream Home In Elmswell

Emily and Aaron were delighted when the hunt for their first home together came to an end earlier this year.

Through the Shared Ownership scheme, the couple bought a property at Orbit Homes’ Spring Grove development, which is now over 60% sold.

Nursery manager Emily, 27, and her partner Aaron, 28, who is a factory worker, settled into their brand new home in June 2022. After previously living with parents and renting in nearby Woolpit, the first-time buyers were looking to get on the property ladder and have a place to call their own.

Spring Grove is a small collection of 32 two-, three- and four-bedroom homes, located in Elmswell near Bury St. Edmunds. The development is within walking distance of Elmswell train station and is close to a range of essential village amenities.

Aaron says: “We noticed the houses being built and saw Orbit Homes was offering Shared Ownership, which was ideal for us as it required a smaller deposit since we were trying to save money while also having to pay rent at the property where we were living at the time, so we went into the sales office to find out more information. Spring Grove was one of the first developments we looked at and after meeting with the sales team and having a look around the show home, we had a great understanding of what we would need to do to buy a Shared Ownership home and were impressed with the properties on offer.

“We chose the Shared Ownership option as it was affordable for us both and decided on Spring Grove because we loved the interior design, layout of the house and the size of the garden – it’s perfect for our dog!”

Emily adds: “I love everything about our new home. The colour scheme is perfect, the size of the house is great and having a driveway which fits both of our cars is brilliant. The area couldn’t be more perfect for us, there are two pubs within walking distance, a local shop, a train station, and great walk at the back of our house. Both of our parents love our new home and were pleasantly surprised about how big the upstairs rooms were!
