First Through the Door at Rutherford Fields

Melissa, 25 and George, 26, have lived local to Leighton Buzzard all their lives and were keen to stay in the area to be close to friends, family and work. The couple lived with their parents and then decided to rent together in Hockliffe but were keen to get on the property ladder and the pair had their hearts set on one place.  

Melissa comments: “Having lived around Leighton Buzzard all our lives, we know the area really well. We had heard that some new homes were going to be built on the former RAF Stanbridge base and started to do our research.  We couldn’t believe it when we discovered that the new homes would be in our price range so we were determined to get there first and find out more”.  

“The show home was due to open at 10am on Saturday 24 February and we were so keen to be the first that we arrived extra early to have a wander around, getting a feel for the development. We even knew the exact plot we wanted to reserve. We had already looked at a number of second hand properties but needed additional money to get them modernised, whereas the new homes by Catalyst had all the appliances we wanted as standard.” 

Melissa and George purchased a two-bedroom home at Rutherford Fields. Melissa continues: “The development totally lived up to our expectations and we loved the feel and look of the show home. We were so keen to reserve that we paid our £500 to hold the property that morning.” 

Melissa and George were able to move into their new home in August 2018. Melissa explains: “The whole process was so smooth in buying our first home and we couldn’t wait to pick up the keys. As soon as we walked into our new home, I just couldn’t believe it, George asked me to marry him and I said yes. It couldn’t have been more perfect. We now have our first home together and are getting married in 2020.”

Melissa adds: “We are so pleased with our new home. It is so economical to run in terms of energy and heating. In fact, our monthly outgoings are vastly less that we used to pay renting. We also have a lovely garden which we can’t wait to enjoy in the summer. There is already a really lovely community feel around Rutherford Fields and we are getting to know lots of people. We honestly couldn’t be happier.”
