Mum Shares Her New Life In Loggerheads On Social Media

Posted 12 October 2020 by Keith Osborne

Kirsty has been telling her followers about every step of the way on purchasing her new home from Elan Homes...

Excited at living in a brand new home, Kirsty Tullett has been sharing her thoughts and experience in her house at Elan Homes’ Brook Meadow development with thousands via social media.

Using the Instagram handle Life in Loggerheads, Kirsty has clocked up more than 7,000 followers since reserving a four-bedroom detached home there with husband Mitch.

She is part of a growing trend of buyers sharing their experiences on social media. Research by the Home Builders Federation (HBF) found that one in six Brits would be more likely to update their Instagram followers about their move if they were buying a new build home instead of a property that had been lived in.

Kirsty said: “I’m on social media a lot and have my normal personal accounts but started a home account in January and quickly gained a lot of followers. It’s just a hobby I like to do daily but companies now send me things to promote their businesses.”

Kirsty has been sharing all sorts of updates on her Instagram account including choosing their specification options such as tiling, carpets and the finish of the kitchen; their first visit look inside their home; sharing her interior design inspiration, including some bargain buys; moving day and beyond, asking followers for their styling tips.

She explained: “We have a one-year-old daughter who’s started to crawl so knew we definitely wanted a new build we could move into and everything was done for us, without having to worry about repairs or renovations.”

Their previous property was two-bedroom detached home in Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent, they had lived in for about five years but wanted somewhere bigger, in a better area. So they moved to Brook Meadows in Loggerheads, which is currently offering a choice of three- and four-bedroom houses.

“We looked at so many different new builds before we saw the Elan homes online and then went to view the show home,” Kirsty recalled. “The build quality was the best we had seen from all the new builds we viewed, which was why we chose Elan.”

Kirsty and Mitchell reserved their home off-plan and used a government-backed Help to Buy equity loan to make it easier to afford.

“When we visited our home for the first time it had just been plastered and was like a shell. We had another viewing when the kitchen had been fitted and the house had been painted and it was like a totally different property,” Kirsty said.

“I love how the kitchen/diner is such a big space, it’s one of the reasons we chose this house. I never get bored of looking at our kitchen options and I’m so glad we upgraded. I love how spacious our hallway is and I’ve always wanted a downstairs toilet. It may be the smallest room in the house but it’s one of my favourites.”

Prices at Broook Meadow currently start from £214,995. The sales centre and show homes are open by appointment only, with social distancing measures in place. Alternatively, the housebuilder has video footage, enabling buyers to take a virtual tour of the show home.
