A Herefordshire couple has purchased their ideal home at an age five years under the average first-time buyer through David Wilson Homes and the government-backed Help to Buy scheme at St Catherine’s Grange in Ledbury.

Charlotte Harford (23) and Ben Adams (27) purchased a two bedroom semi-detached home and are now settled into their first home whilst still in their 20s.

Charlotte said: “We used the Help to Buy scheme, which has extremely helped as it gets the younger generation on the property ladder and has helped contribute towards our first home.

“The whole process of purchasing and moving into a David Wilson home has been outstanding. Liz, our sales adviser has been absolutely fantastic, so attentive and friendly, nothing was too much trouble.”

The Help to Buy scheme is open to both first-time buyers and existing homeowners on properties up to the value of £600,000. The scheme helps you to buy a home with an equity loan of up to 20% of the full price of the property and just a 5% deposit. You won't have to pay any interest charges on this loan for the first five years.

Charlotte added: “We were both living with parents previously, therefore wanted to move out so we could start our lives together.”

St Catherine’s Grange is located at the foot of the Malvern Hills. Just a mile from the town of Ledbury, residents are only a short drive from the A417 connecting them to Worcester, Hereford and Gloucester.

Ben said: “We saved really hard for about a year to be able to get a deposit and we have now finally managed to do it; it all feels very surreal. We chose to buy with David Wilson Homes because the finish to their properties are always very nice, modern and the homes are beautifully laid out.”

Ledbury is located in the heart of the Herefordshire countryside, and it’s easy to see why the picturesque town is so popular. The town is steeped in history where residents can discover cobbled alleyways and streets lined with Tudor and Georgian architecture.

Ben continued: “The local area is beautiful and is close to various other areas including Hereford and Malvern as well as being very close to the M50. I’m really looking forward to seeing the development progress into a beautiful, modern place to live.”

Charlotte added: “My favourite part about coming home is having a variety of meals cooked by my partner and then sitting down and relaxing in our cosy living room with a cup of tea.”

St Catherine’s Grange currently has a range of three- and four-bedroom homes available for keen homebuyers to reserve, starting from £268,000.

There are plenty of schemes house hunters can use to help them, including Help to Buy, Part Exchange and Movemaker, all designed to make the moving process that much simpler for buyers.

David Wilson Homes’ developments are now open on an appointment only basis.
