Downsizing draws Hardy family together

Ben SalisburyA retired couple have brought their family closer together after finding their ideal home at Bloor Homes’ Longforth Farm development in Wellington.
Alan Hardy, 66, and his wife Melanie, 62, had become fed up with maintaining their large home and decided the time was right to downsize and relocate closer to their daughter, Alana.
The couple moved from their five-bedroom house in Exeter to a four-bedroom home at the Longforth Farm development off Taunton Road.
They have both been particularly impressed with the customer service they received from Bloor.
Alan said: “We initially had a look around the show home at Longforth Farm and found that we kept coming back to the development because it was so good. My daughter also lives in Taunton and the development got the green light from her too.
“Everyone at Bloor has been fantastic. I can’t say enough for Julie the sales manager who has been a real pleasure to deal with.
“Our old home in Exeter was just getting too expensive to run. The four-bedroom home we have now is much more manageable.
“The home we have got has everything we wanted. We were able turn one of the rooms into much-needed office space but we still have enough room to have people stay at the house if needed.”
The move also coincided with a change in career for Alan, who was appointed Chairman of the royal marine charity Go Commando, based in Taunton, earlier this year. He had previously spent 23 years serving as a Royal Marine, touring Australia, Norway and the Mediterranean to name just a few.
Alan said: “The move has obviously made my work with Go Commando more practical which I am delighted with as the charity has a lot of upcoming events in the autumn which I need to be physically involved with.”
The Longforth Farm development consists of 500 new homes, ranging from two to five-bedrooms. Prices currently start at £341,950.
