Couple Choose New Build Home For Energy Efficiency
A couple from Bournemouth have chosen a brand new home at David Wilson Homes’ Farrier Place in Poole to save money on their bills during the cost-of-living crisis.
Ryan, 37, and husband, Ernest Spencer-Buller, 56, wanted to move to a bigger home in the area and were eager to buy a new build property because of the sustainable, energy-efficient features that come as standard.
When they came across the development from the WhatHouse? Award-winning housebuilder, located close to Wimborne town centre, it wasn’t long before they signed on the dotted line.
Ryan, who works as a receptionist in central Bournemouth, says: “We know that new builds are more energy-efficient than second-hand properties, and, during a cost-of-living crisis and with Ernest now retired, we were positive that we wanted to move into a new home that would save us money in the long term. When we came across Farrier Place, near Wimborne and close to some lovely walks, we knew it would be an ideal place for us to set up home.”
Having set their sights on a four-bedroom Hollinwood property in a quieter area of the development, all Ryan and Ernest had to do then was wait for their move-in day in May.
Ernest continues: “Having previously lived in a three-bedroom property, we knew it was a four-bedroom we were after. The Hollinwood won us over with its open-plan kitchen and diner, which is perfect for entertaining, and we couldn’t wait to move in. Our property is on a great little spot on the development as well. We couldn’t be happier.”
David Wilson Homes’ four-bedroom Hollinwood home has a dual aspect lounge, along with an open-plan kitchen and dining area with French doors leading to the garden. The home also has a separate utility room and storage cupboards to support modern, clutter-free living.
Each of its four bedrooms offer space for wardrobes and the main bedroom includes an en suite. There is also a family bathroom.
When it comes to energy-efficiency, a brand new David Wilson Homes property could be up to 64% cheaper to run, meaning Ryan and Ernest could save up to £2,200 per year on their energy bills. The home benefits from the use of highly thermally efficient insulation and argon-filled double-glazing, which allows the heat from the sun in whilst minimising heat loss. The homes also use the latest water and energy saving technologies.
Ryan adds: “It is brilliant to know that we have found a new home that not only ticks the boxes when it comes to style and location but will also be saving us money.”
Tammy Bishop, David Wilson Homes sales director, Southampton Division, is delighted that Farrier Place has become the new home for Ryan and Ernest.
She says: “With plenty of surrounding countryside and scenic river walks to explore, I can see why Ryan and Ernest have decided to make Farrier Place their home. Every David Wilson home is designed to give homeowners more open space, more natural light and an energy-efficient environment to make their own, and I wish them all the best here.”
Farrier Place is an exclusive collection of two- and four-bedroom homes close to both the countryside and the coast. The development is close to Wimborne town centre and has excellent links to Bournemouth and Poole.
