Couple Cruise Through Retirement at New Poole Community

Mr and Mrs Russell are keen fans of cruise holidays, having had eight booked in for 2020. However, when the pandemic hit at the start of the year, their plans were put on hold and, like the rest of the UK, they found themselves spending more time at home.

The couple, who currently live in Epping Forest in London weren’t actively looking for a new property, but when they came across Renaissance Sandbanks Road community and the spacious two-bedroom apartment on offer, they knew it was for them.

“We were just flicking through the Daily Mail one Saturday morning, and came across the new homes in a property supplement. We then called Renaissance on the Monday to register our interest and everything went from there” said Mr Russell.

“Going on holiday and trying out different cruises is how we’ve been enjoying our retirement so far, and where we’re based now gives us easy access to four different airports. Though having had to shield for the past five months, it doesn’t look like we’ll be getting on a flight anytime soon.

“Living in London has been fantastic, but we’ve always loved Poole and the South Coast, having spent a lot of time there over the years. With the pandemic, it felt like now is the time to make the move to a home we can continue to explore.”

The couple were particularly drawn to the location of the community, adding: “The location is ideal, there is a bus stop just outside, with services into Bournemouth and Southampton, and we’re especially excited about being able to take walks along the seafront.

“We’re really not ready to spend the rest of our days in front of the TV and feel that this provides the perfect blend for us. We love that our new home will be maintenance-free but for us, the security is a great draw. If we do get to cruise again, it’s fantastic to know we just need to lock the front door, and everything is safe and sound.”
