A New Life For Couple In Greater Manchester
A Hong Kong couple have set up a new life in Greater Manchester, following a recommendation from their friend who had previously relocated to the UK with Countryside.
Like many Hongkongers, Wai and Amanda moved to Countryside’s Heyside’s Grove via the British National (Overseas) Scheme, set up to allow Hongkongers to live, work and study in the UK. Those who have moved are keen to spread the word, sharing their experience and details of their new life with friends and family in Hong Kong.
Wai and Amanda first got a glimpse of what living in the UK could look like after visiting a fellow Hongkonger, who had bought at Countryside’s Radclyffe Gardens in Chadderton. Since the pair relocated, they have since offered their own recommendations to family and friends, a number of whom have purchased their own Countryside homes in Greater Manchester.
Wai, a warehouse manager, explains: “I would really recommend Countryside to anyone thinking of making the move from Hong Kong; in fact, my sister will be moving to Countryside’s Radclyffe Green development later this year. Countryside helped us start our new life in the UK, and most importantly, get our freedom back. We didn’t expect to have such a smooth process relocating and buying a property in a different country, and that’s all thanks to the commitment of the Countryside team.”

Amanda comments: “Our new home is far bigger than the small apartment we had in Hong Kong; we love how spacious and modern it is. We’re also enjoying having a garden to relax in and we have even grown a few vegetables! We’re lucky to be part of such a wonderful community too, we spend our weekends watching football at the pub with our friends and we’re looking forward to hosting garden parties in the summer.”
Joe Turner, managing director, Manchester and Cheshire East, Countryside, comments: “Wai and Amanda’s story is truly heartwarming and I am so pleased to hear how well they have settled in the UK, integrating into the local community and making the most of their freedom. We are committed to supporting Hongkongers in their move, providing a seamless process and helping buyers navigate any hurdles. I wish Wai and Amanda all the very best for their future in Manchester.”
