Keith OsborneDetermined to stay in Hoxton and not buy outside of the capital, Tom Evison, a 30-year-old City headhunter, had been renting in the area for more than six years before he finally found his dream home at Countryside’s Dash development.
Known for its central location and village feel, Tom knew his one-bedroom apartment in an area he fell in love with was the ideal place for him to lay down some roots; he would not have to compromise on his lifestyle and would be able to continue walking or cycling to work, with his Bank office just 25 minutes away.
“The location is ideal for me – I walk almost everywhere and don’t have to worry about getting to know the local hangouts. Friends of Ours is one of my favourite ones. They make brilliant coffee and remained open to serve takeaway drinks even during the lockdown. There are also some great places around where you can get all sorts of speciality dishes, like salt beef and sourdough pizza,” he said.
The community spirit is something that keeps drawing buyers and renters to Hoxton. That has always appealed to Tom, too, and he was pleased to learn that most of his neighbours are a similar age and work nearby.
“The neighbours are really friendly, and it’s great to have a communal roof terrace, where you can meet and chat with people who live in the same building”, said Tom.
Tom was very impressed by the design and specification of his apartment, which has high-quality fittings and fixtures, a generously spaced open-plan kitchen/living area, large windows, and ample storage space. In addition, there is a communal courtyard and a roof terrace, offering stunning views over London.
“I’d looked at many different properties before settling for Dash. The issue with most of the apartments in the area was that they were either tiny or didn’t have any outdoor space. My one-bedroom apartment at Dash with a private balcony is very spacious, and I have access to the communal courtyard and roof terrace,” said Tom.
The roof terrace also has its own herb garden, which was something that Tom, a keen cook, was pleased to discover.
“I get rosemary, thyme, sage, lemon, and mint from the herb garden, which is very handy for cooking. I didn’t expect to have access to organic herbs while living in an apartment in the heart of the city, but it’s a great touch,” he said.
Tom was able to get onto the property ladder at Dash with the help of the government London Help to Buy scheme, which requires buyers to put down as little as five percent in deposit, which Tom financed through his savings and inheritance.
Dash is Countryside’s collection of 47 sleek one and two-bedroom apartments and duplexes set within a stylish brick building in the heart of Hoxton.
The development is modelled on the latest trends in urban design, while seamlessly blending with local architecture. Every apartment at Dash has private outdoor space, ideal for al-fresco breakfasts.
Dash is a short walk from Regent's Canal, and its residents have access to numerous amenities within walking distance.
These include BoxPark, with a diverse range of street food vendors, pop-up shops and bars. Instagram-friendly Columbia Road flower market is also a short walk away and so is Brick Lane, with its authentic curry restaurants, art exhibitions, clubs, and bars.
For more cultural entertainment, residents at Dash can head to the Barbican Centre, a performing arts centre housed in an impressive Brutalist building, which hosts a diverse range of exhibitions and concerts all year round.
Dash benefits from excellent transport links, with Old Street tube station just 0.3 miles away and Hoxton Overground station only 0.5 miles away. It is a great place to live for cyclists, offering cycle storage facilities and a 12-month car club subscription. Those living at Dash also benefit from an electronic postal collection service, Bringme.
There are only two one-bedroom apartments remaining at Dash, priced from £680,000.
