Retiree Sells Home In Just 10 Days

Posted 24 November 2022 by Helen Christie

Margaret was able to sell her home in just 10 days and relocate back to her childhood hometown…

With many homebuyers waiting an average of 25 weeks to sell their property, retired Margaret Askew-Eastwood was able to sell her house in just 10 days, enabling her to fulfil her dream of relocating back to her childhood hometown.

After living abroad for 13 years, Margaret, 70, moved to Lincoln after the loss of her husband, Ron but had her sights set on ultimately returning to Accrington, Lancashire, where she grew up. However, her move was on hold - until she came across Countryside’s Assisted Move scheme.

Margaret explains: “I’d found the home I wanted at Countryside’s Ribblesdale Place in Accrington but with a house to sell, I wasn’t sure how long it would take. The sales consultant, Anne, alerted me to Assisted Move to enable me to speed up the process.”

Margaret hadn’t come across Assisted Move before but with help from Countryside, she knew it was the ideal option for her. Using Assisted Move meant that Margaret could sell her home much sooner than expected - the team would help with the sale of her house, whilst holding back her new home until the sale completed.

Margaret continues: “The team got in touch and told me they had researched the best estate agents in my area. Strangely enough, it happened to be the agent that I had purchased my bungalow through a few years before! We first spoke on 5th August and I had sold my home by 15th August.”

Margaret adds that Countryside stayed in contact with her throughout the entire process, and she found the scheme really easy to use. “The process was so easy, in fact I only had to sign forms. They even suggested which solicitors would be best to use. Every document was explained in full and if I didn't quite understand anything, the team were only a phone call away. During the legalities Countryside took a lot of the stress away, and I can honestly say that without them I don't think things would have gone quite as smoothly as they did.”

Mark Hadfield, managing director, Merseyside and Cheshire West, Countryside Partnerships, says: “We understand that the selling and buying process can often be a stressful experience. Our Assisted Move scheme is a hassle-free way to help our buyers sell their home quickly at its open market value by using our team of experts. It’s uplifting to hear stories like Margaret’s, and we’re happy we were able to play a part in speeding up her house buying journey.”
