Lewis And Georgia Are First Buyers At New Exeter Scheme

Posted 9 February 2022 by Keith Osborne

A young couple quickly found their ideal first property together at Cavanna Homes' Equinox II development...

After only two days of house-hunting, first-time buyers Lewis Cosway and Georgia Smith became the first couple to secure a brand new home at Cavanna Homes' newly launched Equinox II development.

After splitting their time between the Cosway's family home in Exeter and Georgia's in Taunton, the couple decided to take their first step onto the property ladder and find a home they could move into together.

The pair chose Exeter to set down their roots and after starting their search by exploring new build developments around the south of the city, they paid a visit to Cavanna @ Elm Park.

“At the time of our visit, the development was in the early stages of construction, so after a helpful discussion with the sales advisor, they recommended that we head over to Cavanna's Equinox development on the eastern outskirts of the city to get an idea of the finish, style and layout of the homes,” said Lewis.

The couple headed over to Equinox the very same day and were given a tour of the four-bedroom ‘Plym’ and three-bedroom ‘Dart’ show homes at Equinox I to see the finish and build quality of the new homes.

“We met with the sales advisor Kevyn and chatted through our wish list of what we were looking for in our new home, which included a hallway, three bedrooms with space for a home office, parking, a kitchen bar and a garden for when Lewis' family dog, a springer spaniel called Perdy, comes to stay. We knew this was a lot to ask for when looking for a first home, but when Kevyn said he had a home that would be perfect for us, we were thrilled,” said Georgia.

The couple were given information about the three-bedroom, semi-detached ‘Dart’ style home at the newly launched Equinox II.

“To make sure we could get a mortgage for this fantastic home, we followed Kevyn's advice and phoned New Homes Mortgage Helpline and within half an hour, our new mortgage in principle had been agreed and we reserved our brand-new home!” added Lewis.

Sales advisor Kevyn Dixon said: “Lewis and Georgia are such a wonderful couple, it was a real pleasure in helping them to not only find but also secure their first home together! The timing was perfect as the weekend the couple reserved was our official launch weekend for Equinox II making them the first people to reserve one of our new homes in this exceptional location.”

Lewis and Georgia were eligible for the Help to Buy Equity Loan scheme to help them onto the property ladder, alleviating any additional financial stress.

On reserving a new build home, Lewis said: “It's brilliant knowing that we'll be moving into a home which doesn't need any DIY as we're both busy focusing on our careers. Being able to choose our kitchen and bathroom fittings is great – especially with the upgrade options.

“I currently work from home so having space to create an office is something I'm looking forward to, and the location is ideal for us. It's close to the M5 for commuting as Georgia works in Taunton and Exeter city is close by.”

The couple secured their new home off-plan by utilising tours of the development in progress and viewing the show homes at Equinox I for inspiration.

“This is one of the biggest steps Lewis and I have taken together, so naturally we were nervous about securing a new home off-plan, but I'm so glad we did! Kevyn has made the whole process so easy for us and whenever I felt hesitant about anything, Kevyn booked me in for private appointments to show me other completed homes at Equinox so I could look again at the fixtures, finishes and build quality, and I wasn't disappointed. It's made us both even more exciting about moving into our new home,” explained Georgia.

The couple are due to complete and move into their new home late this spring, “leaving us with plenty of time to save and plan our interior décor,” added Georgia.

Kevyn added: “I'm looking forward to handing the keys over to Lewis and Georgia in spring and seeing them turn their new house into a home. Guiding them through the buying process from start to finish has been wonderful and I can't wait to see our Equinox community continue to grow.”
