Second Dream Home For Couple At Penicuik Development

Helen ChristieWhen Marie and her husband George, were looking for a new home, they had originally set their hopes on moving to northern Scotland.
However, soon after deciding to head north, their plans changed, and they decided to look closer to home. This is where they discovered the Belwood Oaks development from WhatHouse? Award-winning housebuilder Cala Homes in Penicuik.
Having bought a Cala home 20 years ago, Marie knew exactly what she would be getting, and finding their new dream home was made even easier when they walked into the sales suite and saw that Amelia, who sold them their first Cala home, was working there.
She says: “We originally planned to move north and even put down a deposit on a home, but our plans changed, and we had to reconsider our move. We previously lived in Aberlady in East Lothian in a Cala home, which we have made great memories in, so it was really a no-brainer when we came to see Belwood Oaks. What was also wonderful about buying at this development was that we had originally purchased our first home from Amelia, and it was a great surprise to us when we found out she was a sales consultant at Belwood Oaks.”
The couple were looking for a new home where family could stay when visiting, with plenty of space for dinner and entertaining visitors.
Marie says: “We decided on a Colville housetype, or should I say it chose us as it just felt the right fit as soon as we walked into it! It’s so light and airy and has a really spacious sitting/dining/entertaining space which is great for when family and friends visit. There is also a fantastic large sitting room and an essential downstairs toilet. Upstairs has four spacious bedrooms as well as bathrooms and showers, which we really do need as we’ve got a large family who often visit us. We love the views from our home too.”
Having owned older properties in the past, Marie and her husband were keen to spend their retirement in a new build home, citing the benefits of knowing everything was taken care of by Cala.

She adds: “The Cala house we had before remained a fantastic house the entire time we were there. With new builds, you are the first in the door, it’s really light and airy, they are more efficient and, as we are now both retired, there is less concern about things going wrong. Older houses have cost us a fortune in the past. Cala are five star and have been fantastic whenever we have bought from them. They have continued to listen to their customers and have built exactly what we wanted.”
Having Amelia help them pick their perfect home took all the stress out of moving for the couple as they knew she would keep them in the loop every single step of the way.
Marie continues: “Buying a new home can be stressful but thanks to Amelia being so professional and helpful, this was taken away and our purchase was made so easy. She kept us up-to-date with any new information we needed and was flexible when it came to us choosing a time to view the homes at the development. She is so knowledgeable too, no question was too much for her!”
Amelia, who has worked with Cala Homes (East) for 33 years, says: “It was a pleasure to sell them their first Cala home at Aberlady, so when I saw them come through the door at the sales office at Belwood Oaks I was over the moon! Helping them to find their second dream home really was a privilege for me. I’d like to say thanks so much for choosing Cala again, and for picking me to help you find your new home.”
Cala Homes’ (East) Belwood Oaks development is located to the tree lines north of Penicuik, less than nine miles from Edinburgh city centre, and offers the perfect balance of semi-rural living, while still having great connections to the city. Prices start at £365,000 for a four-bedroom semi-detached Bargower home.
