Coastal Location A ‘Breath Of Fresh Ayr’ For First Time-Buyers

Posted 18 May 2023 by Keith Osborne

Ryan and Jennifer found a perfect first home together not far from where they grew up, on the west Scotland coast...

When local couple Ryan and Jennifer decided to purchase their first home together, there was no question as to where they wanted to start the next chapter of their lives.

The couple grew up in Ayr on Scotland’s glorious west coast, and after meeting while they were pupils at the nearby Belmont Academy, the pair were set on building a life together in the beautiful seaside town, surrounded by their friends and family.

“We love the area,” said 26-year-old Ryan. “We enjoy being close to the beach and the countryside while only being a short drive to Glasgow city centre. With our loved ones being so nearby too, it made sense for us to buy our first home here.”

The couple began their house search in spring last year, but after Ryan visited a Cala Homes (West) development on the outskirts of Glasgow, he instantly knew he wanted to build a life with 25-year-old Jennifer in a Cala property of their own.

Ryan continued. “I was so impressed the kerb appeal of Cala’s homes and how they stood out compared to the other builders in the community.”

First-time buyers Ryan and Jennifer at home at Florence WyndIn April, the pair discovered Cala’s Florence Wynd development in the tranquil south-west suburb of Doonfoot, just 2.5 miles south of Ayr. After an appointment with the Cala Homes (West) sales team at Florence Wynd, the couple reserved their own spectacular four-bedroom ‘Bryce’ housetype. Just nine months later, in January 2023, they were handed their keys and moved into their very first home together.

“The size and layout of the ‘Bryce’ is perfect for us.” said Ryan. “The open-plan living, kitchen and family area and the generous lounge space gives us plenty of room for hosting our friends and family, whilst the bi-fold doors into our private garden gives our home a real airy and spacious feel.

“We chose this particular plot as it has an excellent private position in the development at the top of the hill, with off-street parking and uninterrupted views of the Carrick Hills and just a short walk to the beach. We like how tucked-away the house feels and the tranquillity that comes with that, all while being just moments away from our friends and family in Ayr.”

This is also a special milestone for the coastal development as Ryan and Jennifer are the first family to move into the second phase, Florence Wynd following the sell-out success of phase one, Florence Gardens.

Finding an energy efficient home was a key priority for the young couple, who are keen to keep costs down despite fluctuating energy costs. Ryan said: “To know our home is built by a five-star homebuilder and has A-grade energy performance during a time of high utility bills is very reassuring. Our home also benefits from PV solar panels which come as standard. We’re expecting to use a lot less energy as a result, which will help keep our bills low, which is especially important in the current climate.”

Positioned just moments from the beach in the coastal suburb of Doonfoot, Florence Wynd compromises of an exclusive collection of just 27 four- and five-bedroom detached family homes. The final four homes are now available for reservation, with price starting at £529,995. Find out more from Cala Homes.
