Bloor delivers first-class home for Higgins family

Posted 13 December 2016 by Ben Salisbury

Bloor Homes and the Help to Buy scheme has enabled Matthew and Alicia Higgins to buy a bigger new home in Wilstock Village, perfect for their future plans

A first-class service from Bloor Homes delivered a dream move for postman Matthew Higgins and his wife Alicia.

The couple have upsized from their cramped one-bedroom property in Taunton to a spacious three-bedroom semi-detached house at Bloor’s Wilstock Village in North Petherton, near Bridgwater.

Matthew, 28, and Alicia, 26, an administrator, used the Help to Buy scheme to secure their new home with just a 5% deposit and 75% mortgage - the remaining 20% is provided by the Government as an equity loan, interest free for the first five years.

And the property’s spacious living areas and high energy efficiency have proved to be the perfect package for the couple, who are hoping to start a family in the not too distant future.

Matthew said: “We were treading on one another’s toes in our old place and it was getting to the point where we needed space to breathe. With the possibility of raising a family in the future we were looking for a place that was both spacious and practical.

“We are very fussy when it comes to houses and styles that we like but we were really impressed with what we could choose from at Wilstock Village. Our new home has all the space we need to grow as a family.

“Bloor’s service was top notch, and the sales advisors Fran and Lynda were absolutely brilliant. They provided us with a superb mortgage advisor who explained that we could make our money stretch further by using the Help to Buy scheme. On top of that they also helped get our old property on the market and sold through local estate agents.”

With the winter weather starting to bite, the Higgins have already begun to reap the rewards of buying new.

Lower fuel and energy bills, thanks to the property’s excellent insulation, have enabled the couple to stay cosy even while the temperature plummets outside.

Matthew added: “We were losing a lot of heat in our old home and it was becoming expensive to heat.  When we started looking at moving, we found that we could save more money on our bills if we bought new.

“Thankfully we’re now not reaching for the thick jumpers when we’re at home, so we can enjoy a warm and comfortable Christmas.”

A range of three and four-bedroom homes are currently available at Wilstock Village, priced from £198,950.
