Housebuilder Welcomes First New Homeowners In Arborfield

Posted 15 October 2020 by Keith Osborne

Curren and Rahul Soni and their a five-month-old daughter have moved in at Bewley Homes' Equestrian Walk...

There was a celebration when staff at Bewley Homes greeted the first family to move into its Equestrian Walk development in Arborfield, Berkshire.

Curren and Rahul Soni, who have a five-month-old daughter, successfully moved into their three-bedroom home and couldn’t be happier.

Built on the site of a 112-year-old garrison, originally a veterinary hospital for wounded horses in World War I, Equestrian Walk is named by Bewley to commemorate this service.

Located in Arborfield Green, it is Berkshire’s newest 21st-century ‘Garden Village’ community, designed to provide residents with “a perfect balance of town and country living”.

When the couple began searching online for a new build family home, they knew all about Bewley Homes’ reputation for building quality homes, but not about Arborfield Green and all it could offer. They had been living with their parents in Hounslow for the last three years, but were looking to buy a new home while Curren was on maternity leave.

Curren explained: “We also have family in Reading but knew nothing about the wider area and countryside around. We knew that Bewley Homes build the type of contemporary homes that appeal to us – great use of space, top quality and homes built around an attractive setting.”

Equestrian Walk comprises a collection of contemporary two-bedroom apartments and two-, three- and four-bedroom houses. The couple knew that ‘The Cranleigh’ was just what they were looking for when they were shown around the three-bedroom semi-detached townhouse.

Curren said: “Our first impression when we first arrived at Equestrian Walk was the immediate surrounding was so green, attractive and established. And everything is literally a few minutes’ walk away, a primary school, The Bohunt, a fantastic secondary school, shops and everything practical you need on your doorstep.”

Equestrian Walk is closely located to Shinfield, Wokingham and Reading with easy access to the M4. Curren added: “My husband is an IT software analyst and works in Camberley, which is only around a 15-minute journey for him, so that was an added bonus.”

The Soni’s paid £435,000 for their home and have been able to benefit from the Stamp Duty holiday, which was an added last minute bonus.

Curren said: “We felt the house had a ‘wow’ factor when we walked in. The colour scheme in the large kitchen/diner was just to our taste – white units and grey marbled worktops with a wooden grey flooring. And we were able to choose carpets in a creamy neutral shade. We loved the big living room and how the patio doors open out onto the garden, so we can keep an eye on Laana from inside. The garden feels very secure and private.”

Rahul added: “Having a downstairs cloakroom is really practical. We knew we needed three bedrooms but having a large master bedroom with en suite occupying the whole of the second floor is amazing. It’s been cleverly designed.”

The Soni’s cannot praise the Bewley Homes’ sales team enough. “We felt that they went above and beyond in the way they looked after us. Alex was always so friendly and helpful; she kept us informed at every step along the way, which was very reassuring as we were first-time buyers.”

Elaine Stratford, sales and marketing director at Bewley Homes, said: “This is an important milestone for Bewley Homes as we welcome our first owners at Equestrian Walk. The Sonis will soon be joined by a number of families who are all keen to complete on their purchase and move in and start their new life. It’s the most exciting time for young families.”

Elaine added: “Buyers moving to Arborfield can enjoy a mixture of a rural aspect as well as close proximity to the surrounding village, Reading, Wokingham and travel into London. Good local schools are important and Arborfield has this and benefits from a local store, farm shop selling fresh local produce, lovely pubs and brings the community the best of town and country living.”
