A Special Kind Of Customer Engagement

The sales team helped arrange a surprise proposal of marriage for a couple buying a home at Scholars Park...

A pair of first-time buyers in Dinas Powys have double cause for celebration – after the Barratt Homes sales team helped with a proposal to remember.

Personal trainer Jordan, 29, asked them to assist him in his plans to propose to science teacher Safiyyah,26, after the couple purchased their first home together at Scholars Park.

The couple had chosen the three-bedroom ‘Eskdale’ property, but with the coronavirus pandemic delaying their first viewing, Jordan arranged with Barratt Homes’ sales team to set up a surprise home tour. On arrival, sales advisor Jamie Hill handed the young couple a feedback form, before leaving the property to allow them to explore. Soon afterwards, Safiyyah’s homebuying experience became anything but ordinary.

She said: “After looking around our new home I began to fill in the form, giving my feedback as detailed as possible, and that’s when I discovered the crossword at the bottom. I am useless at crosswords, but I was enjoying it as I knew all the answers to this one until the last question which said, ‘will you’. I turned around and Jordan was down on one knee and I just burst into tears, and of course said yes!

“Our families were hiding around the corner so we could pop open a bottle of champagne in our beautiful new home and it couldn’t have been more perfect!”

Jordan added: “As if buying a home in lockdown wasn’t stressful enough – I decided to throw the proposal into the mix too! Fortunately, Barratt Homes’ sales team were amazing. Not only did they help me with my plan, but they also kept us informed and calm throughout the whole buying process.”

Now, as they get settled, Safiyyah and Jordan are looking forward to planning their perfect wedding in their dream home.

Richard Lawson, sales director at Barratt Homes South Wales division, said: “We are over the moon for Safiyyah and Jordan and are pleased to have been able to help in the surprise. Our customers’ happiness is at the very forefront of what we do, and we wish them both many happy years in their new home.”
