Couple Find Their Perfect Fit At Norfolk Development
After trying to find a suitable property at 10 different developments across the East of England, a couple from Norfolk have found their perfect match at Barratt Homes’ Wayland Fields development in Watton.
Allen Gibbons, 60, and James Dann, 67, have secured their third home together, moving from a large three-bedroom end terrace townhouse in Hatfield, into a four-bedroom detached Radcliffe style property at the development.
The couple were inspired to move to help them towards their goal of retirement and becoming mortgage free. The sale of their existing property in Hatfield and lump sum pension contribution enabled the couple to purchase their new property with ease.
Allen says: “We came across the Wayland Fields development online. The location of the development appealed to us, along with the compact size of it; there’s not too many properties and the styles and sizes of houses were to our liking. There are lots of benefits that come with owning a new build, such as little to no maintenance for many years, and the homes tend to be energy efficient with new modern fixtures and fittings. It was the Radcliffe show home which clinched the choice for us above other properties we had seen. The location of the property was important to us as we did not want to be too isolated.”
After nine months of house-hunting, the couple secured their new home at the development, which had just started being built at the time of purchase.
Allen continues: “When we got the keys, we were very excited and surprised to see a lovely green bow on the front door! It made us feel very special and like a valued client; we also received a lovely welcome pack. We love that smell of a new house, it is like the feeling you get with a new car. We’re also delighted that our home is detached which means no more shared walls!”
The couple both have London-based jobs, but are benefitting from the scenic town location that brings more affordability.
Allen adds: “James and I work from home in the study, and also in the kitchen and family area. My job is based in a North East London Borough, where I work as an education project manager, and James is a market security senior analyst for his work based on Lombard Street. We occasionally commute for work or for leisure purposes into London, either driving into north east London, or taking the Greater Anglia train service from Diss to London Liverpool Street which is very near to the office where James works. The train commute is easy and relaxing.”
The couple also benefit from the development’s nearby amenities.
Allen says: “We are close to the shops in town which has been very beneficial, and the medical centre, pharmacy, and dentist are all close by. There are some excellent countryside walks, such as Wayland Woods, with the coast also nearby and Norwich city centre. There’s ease of parking for residents and visitors, and the community is very friendly. We have met our close neighbours and other residents around us, all of whom have made us feel welcome.”
