Retired Couple Settle Down At Cambridgeshire Development

A retired couple originally from East London have found the perfect home to settle down in at Allison Homes’ Cromwell Fields development in Bury, Cambridgeshire.

Sonja, 55, and Tony, 59, were living in Thurrock, Essex and initially didn’t have any plans to move home, but changed their minds when they happened upon Cromwell Fields.

The couple were excited to learn that there was a property available at Cromwell Fields, and knew that a new build home would suit their lifestyle. New builds are also great option as according to the most recent report by the Home Builders Federation (HBF)’s and Watt a Save residents of new build homes save as much as £2,000 on their energy bills

Tony says: “We had a new build before, back in 1996. To go into a modern new build where you know where everything is and where all your services are just makes life a lot easier.”

The pair purchased a four-bedroom, detached Dembleby style home off-plan, meaning they were able to customise elements of the home, such as the lighting, bathroom and kitchen, before moving in, which particularly appealed to Sonja.

She says: “My favourite part of the house is my kitchen. The kitchen I previously had was very small and I love having a bigger kitchen so that I can move about, and so that when we’re entertaining or when our children and their partners come over, they can come help out in the kitchen. I love my utility room too, as it provides so much extra storage space.”

After purchasing their new home, Tony and Sonja kept in touch with their sales executive, who guided them through every stage of the process.

Tony continues: “The after-sale support was excellent. They have always been very helpful on the phone and nice to speak to. We haven’t had many snags to go through, and the couple of times it got a little bit stressful she was always on hand to help. On the day we moved in, the regional sales manager Charlotte took the time to come and see us, and there were some nice touches that made it feel as if we hadn’t just moved into a house, we were being welcomed to our new home.”

The couple are now fully settled into their new home and are able to relax and enjoy it.

Sonja adds: “We really love it here, and so do our family. We’ve been blessed that we’ve been able to get the home how we want it. I think that if anyone was thinking about purchasing a home from Allison Homes, they should go for it. You’ve got nothing to lose and a lot to gain, they’re just lovely homes.”

The final round of homes at Cromwell Fields has now been released.
