New homes announced at major Newcastle development by Persimmon Homes

Posted 7 August 2013 by Keith Osborne

New plans have been announced to build more new homes at Newcastle Great Park (NGP) by Persimmon Homes North East. The company has been granted planning permission to build a further 430 homes on land that was previously approved for office development. It is anticipated that the associated increase in sales outlets and the improved diversity of the typeof homes on offer will allow for the completion of approximately 150 homes in the next 12 months.

The company has made an investment at NGP which is now growing into a strong sustainable community. Furthermore, within the next year it is expected the Great Park Community Centre will be completed which will include a multi-use games area and sports pitches. There is also a growing network of footpaths and off-road cycle routes that are well used by residents, workers and visitors.

Persimmon puts the success of the development down to the diverse range of homes available to prospective buyers. Persimmon offer apartments, starter homes, a wide range of traditional family homes, large executive detached properties and a number of self-build plots.

Peter Jordan, divisional strategic land director for Persimmon Homes, remarks: "A critical part of our strategy is the continued investment in new land and making best use of the land we already have to support the growth of Persimmon within the North East. We will always respond positively to the market and this is evident at Newcastle Great Park where we have ensured range and choice for all. Partnership with Newcastle City Council has been an important part of this and we remain committed to continue our good work to see the community grow and thrive."
