Families will enjoy the range of new homes for sale in South Lanarkshire

Posted 21 October 2013

A wide range of family-orientated properties is available to buyers looking to find a new home in South Lanarkshire. The area is popular with those looking to be close to the city and commuter routes as well as families who prefer a quieter pace of life. Despite its proximity to Glasgow, South Lanarkshire has some great amenities of its own including the East Kilbride Shopping Centre, which is home to a cinema and ice rink as well as almost 200 shops and eateries.

Persimmon Homes' Burnside View development in Cathkin is just five miles from Glasgow city centre yet is located close to Cathkin Braes Country Park and is surrounded by countryside. Available properties at the scheme include the ‘Wallace' house type, which costs £151,995 and includes a living room, open-plan kitchen and dining room with French doors to the rear garden, three bedrooms and a family bathroom.

With nine schools within one mile of the site, Ballerup Village is a great choice for families looking to buy a new home in East Kilbride. Prices on available properties at the Barratt Homes site range from £132,000 for a two-bedroom link-detached home with lounge and open-plan kitchen/dining area to £152,500 for a three-bedroom house set over three levels. The ground level of the ‘Quartz' house type comprises a master bedroom with en suite, guest bedroom and WC, while the first floor contains the living room, kitchen/dining area and shower room. One further bedroom and a family bathroom complete the upper level.

Also in East Kilbride, CALA Homes has a development of family homes in the Jackton Road area of the town, The Ambles. Buyers should act quickly, however, as only three properties currently remain available at the scheme. Among them is the ‘Chrichton' house type; a five-bedroom detached villa priced from £320,000. Benefits include a formal lounge, open-plan kitchen, dining and family area, utility room, cloakroom, two bedrooms with en suite facilities, two further double bedrooms, a fifth bedroom/study and a garage.

Only two plots are still on the market at Bellway Homes' Avenues development in Uddingston. The ‘Arran' is a detached four-bedroom home costing £246,995 and boasting a lounge with bay window, formal dining room, kitchen, en suites to two of the four bedrooms, family bathroom and downstairs WC. There is also plenty of storage space, a utility room and an integral garage. Commuters will find the local railway station within walking distance, nearby access to the M73/74 and M8 motorways and Glasgow city centre is just 10 minutes away by car.

Robertson Homes is currently planning a new development near Hamilton. The site will offer a collection of three-, four- and five-bedroom family homes due to be launched by the beginning of 2014. Situated on the former H&K sawmill within the grounds of Chatelherault Country Park, Chatelherault Mill is located in the hamlet of Ferniegair.
