One-on-one interview: Jason Rishover of Heronslea Group

Every week, Marc Da Silva brings us an exclusive interview with a senior figure in the UK housing industry. This time around, he poses the questions to Jason Rishover, chief executive of developer Heronslea Group.

Where in London and Hertfordshire is the Heronslea Group currently building new homes? Our focus has very much been on building homes in the super-suburbs of north London, Middlesex and Hertfordshire. We are currently building in a number of different locations.

In Hadley Wood, we have three developments. Renaissance is a collection of eight exclusive three-bedroom apartments, set within private, gated, landscaped grounds. These luxurious apartments offer some of the largest living spaces in the area and are currently being sold off-plan. The show apartment launch is taking place in spring.

Bentley Place is a niche development of nine luxury family homes situated in a picturesque location in Bentley Heath on Hadley Wood/Potters Bar borders. It will be completed by the end of the year. Also in Hadley Wood we have started work on nine super-premium apartments situated in Camlet Way.

In Brookshill, Stanmore boarders another rural location we are about to start construction in April on two houses and seven apartments.

In Mill Hill, our flagship site Mill Hill Place is now complete with the last few homes remaining for sale. This development features 38 luxury two- and three-bedroom apartments and penthouses is set within eight buildings, designed to look like replicas of period homes rather than new build apartments.

In the highly desirable area of Bushey Heath, Hertfordshire, we are currently building two exciting new schemes. Windmill Place is a collection of 51 beautiful homes comprising 29 apartments and 22 houses, set around a delightful village green. All homes feature balconies, terraces or gardens and private parking with the added benefit of ample spaces for visitors.

At Sparrows Herne, close to Bushey High Street, The White House is 16 luxury one- and two-bedroom apartments benefiting from a high specification, private balconies and secure underground parking. Launched at the end of last year, The White House is already 50% sold off-plan.

In Watford town centre we have acquired the former Mecca Bingo site and construction will commence soon on 25 apartments. The development is part of the regeneration of the town centre. 

What’s driving demand to live in those areas? People are being driven out of London by the ever-increasing property prices and are moving further out to get more for their money. Super-suburbs are emerging where there are plenty of amenities and green space, yet still with excellent transport links into the capital.

Could you please tell us a bit more about the Heronslea Group? We are an independent business offering exceptional attention to detail, with quality specification and finish. We have a new sales and marketing director joining us soon with 20 years’ experience. We have a strong in-house team from construction to aftercare service and we are very customer focused. Our interior design team visits the latest shows around the world getting inspiration for our homes. We focus on security of home and car, storage facilities, concierge service, open-plan living and well-planned kitchen/breakfast rooms, with all our properties all providing a feeling of ‘home’. 

What types of homes does your firm build? We build everything from individual bespoke houses to select developments of family houses and luxury apartments, for a range of different buyers from downsizers to growing families seeking a suburban lifestyle. Only the highest quality and finest design is selected for each home offering the best for your money at all levels.

How much does a new home by Heronslea Group typically cost to buy? Our homes currently range from £250,000 to £2million plus.

What’s in the planning pipeline over the next 12 months? We have 100 units in planning and a land team constantly looking for new sites to meet demand. 

Which of your current new build developments do you think stands the best chance of winning a WhatHouse? Award? Mill Hill Place, Hammers Lane, Mill Hill and Renaissance, Hadley Wood.
