Posted 30 May 2017 by Keith Osborne

Our latest round-up of new build homes for sale in developments situated across Scotland, covering a range of budgets and property types...

The impending general election is another chance for the electorate to consider the importance of housing in their decision as to who should run their country from 9 June.

The target currently is for tens of thousands of new homes, many of them at an ‘affordable’ level to meet the demands of the market. A number of new developments have been approved recently to bring substantial new housing to different parts of the country.

Perth and Kinross Council has granted permission to build 700 new homes in Scone. Despite many objections, the Scone North scheme was approved. Around 25% of the homes are proposed to be ‘affordable’. John Stephen, managing director of construction company A&J Stephen, has said: “Our vision is not only to help address what is both a national and local shortfall in housing but to create a high-quality and desirable neighbourhood with a strong sense of community.”

Arbroath-based Angus Housing Association and Cairn Housing Association have started work on their inaugural joint venture, which with bring 71 houses for affordable rent as part of the Muirlands Park development at East Muirlands Road in Arbroath, with housebuilder Persimmon also building 216 further homes for private sale. Cairn chief executive, Jason MacGilp, says: “Like Angus, we are determined that we should play our part in helping to meet the Scottish government’s ambitious plans to transform social housing provision in Scotland over the next few years.”

Port of Leith Housing Association will bring 302 affordable homes to be built within the next five years on a site on West Harbour Road in Granton, part of the Granton Harbour masterplan has a target of 2,000 new homes together with retirement living, public open spaces, a healthcare centre, shops, offices and a hotel, as well as the capital’s new marina.

Here are the WhatHouse? team’s pick of current new homes for sale in Scotland:
