About Sanctuary Homes

Sanctuary Homes is a part of Sanctuary Group, one of Britain’s largest housing associations, which looks after some 85,000 properties up and down the country.

This housebuilder produces a range of developments across the UK that can be purchased under the government-back Shared Ownership scheme which allows eligible buyers to ‘part-buy/part-rent’ a suitable home. With such a variety of potential buyers - single people, couples and families - Sanctuary Homes builds a great choice of property types to suit different requirements and budgets, from one-bedroom apartments to four-bedroom houses.

The Sanctuary Group is planning to build another 30,000 homes in England and Scotland over the next ten years. Its in-house construction team will continue building a wide range of properties, with a great deal of emphasis on affordable Shared Ownership homes and properties designed with older residents in mind.

The Group is planning to achieve its ambitions through using its own surpluses, and 2,265 affordable homes through a £90m share of the Homes and Communities agency’s current Affordable Homes Programme budget. On receiving this allocation, Sanctuary Group director of development Peter Martin said: “We are delighted to receive this substantial grant from the Homes and Communities Agency for the delivery of these affordable homes. The funding will support our wider national development plans.”

As well as its own team of builders, the organisation will also work on some projects in a joint venture with established housebuilders and construction companies such as Galliford Try.

As a registered charity itself, Sanctuary Group also encourages and supports its staff to raise funds for other worthy causes, such as the Alzheimers Society.
