Robertson Homes - a family story

The company that’s now Robertson Homes was founded in Elgin in 1966. Like most families, the business has grown steadily and gradually over the years.

Bill Robertson was just 21 when he set up his joinery business, but within three years he’d built and sold his first house. In 1975 the business took on its first design-and-build contract, and the following year Robertson of Elgin became a limited company.

Since then the Robertson family has acquired new members, buying up small specialist companies and launching new divisions in facilities management and civil engineering. We gradually expanded our territory throughout Scotland, and in 1999 we completed our first project in England. By our 50th year in 2016, we were providing work for over 3000 people.

Robertson Homes Today

We’re now one of the UK’s largest privately-owned construction and support services groups, with offices from Inverness to Sheffield. We work with selected contractors and partners, and across the diverse skillset of our group, to build beautiful, practical family homes. Our homes are built to the highest standards of traditional craftsmanship while incorporating specification that’s way above the industry standard across every price range. And all built and finished with a rare attention to detail that makes a new Robertson home something rather special. We choose exceptional locations, with great transport links and access to good schools and facilities. Placemaking is at the heart of all we do, and while building new homes, we create safe, happy, successful communities.

From our family to yours, at Robertson Homes, we build the best.

Award Comments
The Mitchell Grand, designed by Interiors by Abode, is an impressive six-bedroom detached house built using a carbon neutral timber frame, resulting in an environmentally friendly, energy-efficient family home. This is further reflected
in the furnishings, where the fittings are mostly British made or sourced in local vintage shops, and all the fabrics are of natural fibres.
This is an extremely spacious and practical home, which also offers great value for money and ideal for a modern, growing family who like to entertain.
