Shopping

There's a choice of shopping options near Hillfield Meadows. The Bridges and The Galleries shopping centres in Sunderland and Washington include big-name brands and are perfect for a spot of retail therapy. For your weekly grocery shop, you won't have to venture far at all - Morrisons, Aldi and Sainsbury's are all within a 10 minute drive away from Hillfield Meadows. The town also has a variety of takeaways, newsagents and pubs.

Transport

There are good routes linking to the A1(M) - the A19, A690 and A1231. Sunderland railway station is in the city centre and you can get there easily via public transport. Sunderland International bus station is 4 miles away, also in the city centre, and there are regular local bus services too.

Leisure

Living at Hillfield Meadows gives you plenty of leisure and activity options. Try your skills on the ski slopes at the Silkswoth Sports Complex - a facility that is unique to the North East. This venue also has a fully equipped athletics track and several outdoor football pitches. For something a bit slower in pace, Barnes Park is a popular green space with a caf£ and footpaths around a duck pond. If you're seeking a scenic outing, Penshaw Monument is just over 4 miles away. There's a large area of woodland there, where you can have a relaxing walk, jog or cycle, whatever the time of year.

Health

There's a local pharmacy just a short walk away. The Medical Practice is on the same main road as Hillfield Meadows, next to St Matthew's Parish Church. Your closest dentist is Westmount Dental Surgery which is just 2.9 miles away. The main A&E hospital serving the area, is the Sunderland Royal Hospital, close to the city centre, 2.9 miles away from Silksworth.

Education

Hillfield Meadows is well-served by local schools. Your local nursery in Silksworth is Busy Bee's which is located at Doxford Park just 1.6 miles away. For primary education, the area is served by Mill Hill Primary School which is within reasonable walking distance. There's also the new Silksworth Academy Infants School and Silksworth Academy Junior School. The University of Sunderland City Campus is in the town of Sunderland, just 4 miles away.
