About Barratt Homes

Building high quality, new build homes since 1958, Barratt Developments is the largest housebuilder in the nation. It creates homes across the entirety of the UK, with a wide variety of developments suitable for a range of budgets and requirements, from apartments ideal for first-time buyers to large, spacious homes for growing families.

It acquired Wilson Bowden PLC in 2007, and today has a network of 27 housebuilding divisions throughout Britain, selling new homes under Barratt Homes, David Wilson Homes and Ward Homes. The group was named Homebuilder of the Year at the Sunday Times British Homes Awards.

Barratt Homes has several offers to help homebuyers with their purchase. These include Help to Buy and Help to Buy London, which allow buyers to put down just a 5% deposit which is combined with an equity loan from the government, Part Exchange and Part Exchange Xtra, where the company will organise the sale of the buyers current home, Deposit Match and Movemaker.

With a commitment to building eco-friendly homes, the company builds its homes and communities in a way that encourages greener living. 93% of its developments are within 1km of public transport and homes are designed with energy efficiency in mind. The company has a partnership with the RSPB to make its developments as welcoming for nature as it is for its residents. At its Kingsbrook development, it installed 900 Swift Bricks into homes to give swifts a safe place to nest.

The housebuilder has won numerous awards over the years, including several WhatHouse? Awards. In 2017 it was awarded Silver in the Best Partnership Scheme category, and 2015 saw the company take home Gold in the Sustainable Developer of the Year and Best Large Housebuilder categories.
