Rutherford Fields Ticked All The Boxes And Enabled Family To Buy First Home

Posted 23 March 2020

Mark Goldsmith, his wife Nicola and their two children Rosie and Reece had been living in rented accommodation locally in Leighton Buzzard for many years, but Catalyst's Rutherford Fields development has changed all of that...

They had always been keen to get on the property ladder but were not in the position to until they were gifted some money by Nicola’s father.

Mark explains:

“We had always been renting locally for some time but wanted to get ourselves on the property ladder and start investing in our future. When Nicola’s father generously decided to do an equity release in order to give us some money as a deposit, it meant we could get out the cycle of renting."

“We looked around at the properties available in the area and decided we didn’t really like the idea of a second-hand home as we wanted to have somewhere brand new and fresh for our family."

Mark continues:

“We had heard about Rutherford Fields having previously lived two minutes away from the development and decided to take a look. As soon as we got there, we really liked the look and feel of the development and were extremely impressed with the show home."

“Having looked at other new build developments, it was by far the best we had seen, and we couldn’t quite believe what was included in the price of the home, and not an additional expense."

“Help to Buy was also available at Rutherford Fields and with this and the loan from Nicola’s father we were thrilled when we had our offered accepted on a three bedroom home. The sales team were so helpful and kept us informed throughout the whole purchase process, making it as stress-free as possible.”

On the outskirts of Leighton Buzzard is the brand new community, Rutherford Fields. Transforming the former base of RAF Stanbridge into a much-desired family neighbourhood, the development offers a selection of three and four bedrooms homes available through Help to Buy.

Mark explains:

“Our new home just ticks all the boxes. We can’t believe we actually live here, and we feel so much more settled as a family. When people come and visit us, they can’t get over how nice it is and how big it is for a three bedroom home."

"The bathrooms are amazing with fully tiled walls and high quality sanitary ware and it made such a difference to us to have all the flooring, appliances in the kitchen and turf to the front and back garden all included. It’s meant we haven’t had to find additional money to cover this."

“With more and more people moving in, there is already a really lovely community feel around the development and its perfect for us because the children haven’t had to change schools. I work in sales, so the location is ideal with easy access to London and the motorway network and Nicola works just five minutes away, her job is in accounts."

“Our mortgage is also working out to be a lot less than we paid on rent and we both feel we are now investing into long term future. We couldn’t be happier.”

Perfect for young and growing families, spacious homes at Rutherford Fields feature contemporary layouts offering the best in open plan living, easily adaptable as needs and families change. Kitchens feature top of the range integrated appliances, flowing into bright, airy living, dining rooms.
