Research published this month reveals that three-quarters of people worry that long-term homes are not within their grasp – as the average house price in the South West hits £292,251, just under the national average of £300,000.
The poll by Ipsos/Mori for housing charity Shelter showed that the level of concern over what Shelter has described as a "lifetime of instability" is highest among members of Generation X, now aged 37-50, and Generation Y, aged 15-36.
Numerous housebuilders are currently active in the South West, but with such a shortage of new homes there is hot competition amongst buyers in many of the more popular parts of the region.
The round-up below includes new housing developments in Dorset, Cornwall, Wiltshire, Somerset, Devon and Gloucestershire.
