The latest LSL New Build Index shows that the North East and Yorkshire & The Humber are experiencing slower price growth for new homes compared to all other regions of the UK.
With the North East (Tyne & Wear and Northumberland) rising 0.8% annually on average and Yorkshire & The Humber 2.5%, both regions are well below the national average to the end of August of 4.6%.
Both regions also remain the most affordable for first-time buyers, with the Index comparing average two-bedroom apartment prices with average earning. At 3.04 and 3.16 respectively, the two areas are well below the national average (such a starter home costing 4.38 times average salary) and a world away from London, where average properties are nearly nine times the average local wage.
