October is a busy month for new homes search, with many buyers looking to secure the home they want by Christmas. We take a look at some of the latest launches, offers and events at developments around the UK…

First phase of Catford regeneration scheme to launch

One of London’s largest developers, L&Q, will soon be unveiling the first phase of new homes for sale at a large regeneration scheme the company is undertaking in Catford, in the south-east of the capital.

Excalibur will bring 143 private sale and 39 Shared Ownership homes, replacing 186 ‘pre-fab’ homes in disrepair on the Excalibur Estate with 371 new homes in all. The project sees L&Q partnering with the London Borough of Lewisham to re-house existing residents who want to stay there with a new collection of buyers.

The first release is a collection of 18 one- and two-bedroom apartments set around communal landscaped grounds, priced from £320,000 and £385,000 respectively. London Help to Buy will be available on all units in this phase, and L&Q is preparing a show home to open later this year.

Lucy Chitty, sales and customer services director at L&Q, says: “This is a historic project involving the much-needed redevelopment of an existing housing estate, and the building of a new community in the heart of south-east London. With starting prices for homes in the first phase considerably lower than London averages, this scheme will undoubtedly be an attractive prospect for potential first time buyers,  who are increasingly priced out of nearby areas such as Lewisham and Forest Hill.”
