Plenty Of Choice Of New Build Homes Now In Derby

Posted 21 October 2020 by Keith Osborne

Derby is a busy city for house-hunters looking for a new home at its centre or in its surrounding suburbs...

House-hunters will be impressed by the range of brand new homes for sale in Derby at the moment, whether it’s in the heart of the city or a semi-rural suburb.

With a reputation as England’s most central city, Derby is a high-profile centre for employment, with major brands like Rolls-Royce, Toyota and Bombardier all boasting substantial local workforces.

Not only does it have its own array of shops, amenities and leisure options, it is also well connected to the rest of the country by road and rail, and its only 20 minutes from the centre to East Midlands Airport.

There are only a few homes now remaining at David Wilson Homes @ Mickleover on the southern edge of the city. Having attracted a wide array of buyers since launch, there are now only seven four- and five-bedroom houses for sale.

The development is set amongst luscious greenery and picturesque views and for homebuyers with children, the area also flaunts an outstanding schooling system.

Rachael Harrison, sales director at David Wilson Homes East Midlands, said: “From the very beginning, Mickleover was a highly in-demand development. The location, amenities, value and range of house styles all work together wonderfully to make the development hard to compete with. Mickleover attracts a wide range of diverse homeowners. The community spirit at the development is incredible here, which only adds to its popularity.”

‘The Rother’‘The Rother’ at Oak Grange

Neighbouring Mickleover is Littleover, the suburb where William Davis Homes is making progress on its Oak Grange development of 85 two-, three- and four-bedroom homes. The housebuilder has seen a considerable hike in buyer interest since lockdown was eased but still operates under strict health and safety guidelines to welcome visitors to the marketing suite and two striking four-bedroom show homes, ‘The Denwick’ and ‘The Medway’.

There’s an excellent standard specification and early buyers do have a number of options and upgrades to consider to personalise their property. Prices currently start at £190,000 for the two-bedroom ‘Rother’ semi-detached two-bedroom house.

‘Amberley’The ‘Amberley’ at Durose Country Park

To the north of the city, in Breadsall, Redrow is building some 230 two-, three- and four-bedroom homes at its Durose Country Park scheme.

Prices currently start at £299,950 for the detached ‘Amberley’ house type, with a large open-plan kitchen/dining room with patio doors to the left of the hall, a laundry room and a full-width family lounge to the right. Upstairs are three generous double bedrooms including a master bedroom with a large en suite shower room.

There are two show homes right now, and a whole range of different terrace, semi-detached and detached house types in the pipeline. Propective purchasers are invited to ask about the availability of Help to Buy and the housebuilder’s own Help to Sell initiative for people with an existing property.

Nightingale QuarterNightingale Quarter

A milestone moment has been reached at the historic Nightingale Quarter site with the final piece being added on the first five houses.

The first phase of the £150million build in the heart of Derby by developers Wavensmere Homes is selling out of the 125 two- and three-bedroom homes, which has been helped massively due to incentives such as Help to Buy and the government’s Stamp Duty holiday, announced in July.

James Dickens, managing director for the company, also revealed the tarmac for the road around the site is also being laid, and the site is beginning to take shape.

“It’s really a positive sign when you see a development start to reach vital stages of the build, and equally it’s a great sign for people who are buying the very first homes there, that they are one step closer to their moving date. Our estate agents Ashley Adams have been inundated with enquiries over the past few weeks as prospective buyers can now start to see the form of the homes take shape.”

The second phase is expected to be released later this year, while the total of 800-homes are due to be completed within the next five years. The cost of homes for a two-bedroom property at the site starts at £191,000 and for a three-bedroom home, £220,000.

Ashley Adams are handling enquiries for the first of the one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments and houses being constructed on the former Derbyshire Royal Infirmary site.
