WhatHouse? takes a look at these luxury retirement apartments from LifeCare Residences and finds out some of the style details room by room…

LifeCare Residences will draw on its 35 year pedigree as a healthcare and retirement village operator to unveil Battersea Place – London’s first luxury retirement community.

Situated on Albert Bridge Road, opposite Battersea Park, the launch of these 109 exclusive one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments and penthouses marks a new generation of retirement facilities for the capital.

Tracy Leach, at ICON interiors, who oversaw the interior design at LifeCare Residences’ Battersea Place, comments:

“Much of the inspiration for the interiors at Battersea Place was taken from the green landscape of Battersea Park, as well as the contemporary design of the building itself. Natural motifs and materials are used throughout, while a pallet of fresh greens and intimate greys create a tranquil haven, underpinned by an innate sense of luxury. The warm, earthy tones of the flooring create depth and texture.

“The overall aim of the project was to create a welcoming, homely atmosphere, without feeling too corporate. We took much inspiration from the luxury hotel industry, yet comfort was at the forefront of the vision.

“The show apartments needed to reflect the refined yet aspirational nature of Battersea Place, allowing buyers to envisage living there, and to feel secure in their decision to move to a retirement community."

The design of living accommodation is pivotal, and we harnessed the open-plan living and dining areas to create a fluid, versatile space, with elegant furnishings adding to the sense of luxury and creating a stylish entertaining space to enjoy, which juxtaposes contemporary city design with classic elegance.Battersea Place - living and dining
The sleek, integrated kitchens add a contemporary edge to homes that have been discretely modified to perpetuate independent living. The show home’s integrated kitchens are fully equipped with all modern appliances, while eye level ovens enable residents to live as independently as possible.Battersea Place kitchen
Each of the sophisticated bedrooms uses natural, soothing tones to create a serene haven. The bedrooms at Battersea Place have been designed with comfort in mind, with natural tones creating a soothing ambience. The rooms have been discretely adapted to cater to the retirement community demographic, without compromising on specification.Battersea Place bedroom

“The communal areas were crucial to the interior design process. Carefully arranged layouts ensure that residents can navigate the multipurpose spaces with ease, allowing them to spend time reading in the library, or to make use of the television and computers at will. The library was specially curated with Battersea Place’s residents in mind. The eclectic variety of volumes available cater to the accomplished, learned minds of our clients, and has established the library as a leisure destination in its own right.

“Safety was an important consideration too; for example, the furnishings embody the elegance of a high-end residential space, while sensitively integrated features, such as seat heights, and specially crafted chair arms, offer support to residents who might need to lean heavily on furniture or a helping hand when sitting or standing.

“The attention to detail at Battersea Place is rarely found in traditional residential schemes. Hand embroidered silk wallpaper adorns the walls, while a bespoke lighting installation brings the entrance hall to life. The stain resistant ivory carpets ensure that luxury is not compromised by practicality.

“London’s status as an international destination is also present in the design – iconic images of the city were chosen, which appeal to the well-travelled, cosmopolitan residents of Battersea Place. All artwork is distinctive, so that each piece can be enjoyed to its fullest. Distinguishable works on each floor aid residents when navigating their way around the scheme, ultimately affording a greater sense of independence.”

Prices at Battersea Place start from £535,000 for a one-bedroom apartment.  For more information, please contact the Battersea Place sales team on 020 7205 4643, or visit www.batterseaplace.co.uk
