Show me The Wey - new townhouses coming to leafy Godalming

Posted 3 June 2016 by Keith Osborne

A collection of brand new four-storey homes coincides with the launch of a new show home and marketing suite at Prime Place Godalming...

Loved for its period properties, the appearance of stylish new build homes in Godalming is rare, especially in a central location in the town. But that is what homebuyers in Surrey will see from 11 June, when the marketing suite and show home opens at Prime Place Godalming.

This development will feature a mix of apartments and townhouses, with the latter of special interest to family buyers and released for sale as the marketing suite opens. The open-plan apartments, with one to three bedrooms, have been available for some time, with nearly two-thirds already sold to keen house-hunters looking for new homes in Surrey.

The collection of three-bedroom townhouses is called The Wey, and these four-storey homes provide flexible living space with a basement utility room, rear garden accessed through full-height doors and the option of using the separate lounge as a fourth bedroom.

At a price of around £580,000, even these homes are eligible for the Help to Buy scheme, which is also available on the apartments. A one-bedroom flat, priced at £264,995, can be purchased using a deposit of £13,250, with the government providing an equity loan of £53,000 (interest-free for the first five years and repayable after 25 years or on the sale of the apartment) and the buyer having to secure a 75% mortgage of £198,745.

Appointments to see the townhouses can be made now through selling agents Hamptons International.

Sue Gresswell, sales and marketing director at Prime Place, says: “Godalming is a charming market town and a great place to live, not least for its proximity to London. Our homes are in an outstanding location close to the High Street, opposite Waitrose, an easy walk from the station and minutes from the River Wey. The show apartment will give people the opportunity to see the quality of these homes and get a sense of what a great lifestyle they could have here.”

Jason Cheeseman, new homes sales and marketing manager at Hamptons International, adds: “This is a hugely popular development with, we believe, the best location in Godalming - convenient for everything. 60% of the apartments have been sold, even before the show apartment opens, showing purchasers’ confidence in the Prime Place brand - and we anticipate the same high level of demand for the townhouses.”

The Prime Place Godalming development is arranged around a central courtyard garden, with private parking provided in an underground car park, keeping the streets clear and attractive. Each apartment is given one allocated parking space, with each townhouse and penthouse having two.

With its excellent selection of shops and restaurants, the appeal of Godalming as a place to live is clear and its proximity to Guildford, a regional centre for shopping and entertainment, brings more options into easy reach, under five miles away and with good access by road and public transport.
