About Carnforth

Carnforth is a small and vibrant town just 5 miles north of Lancaster and Morecambe. It's the ideal spot to retire to, with its stunning natural beauty, great local facilities and easy public transport links. That's why award-winning builder McCarthy & Stone has chosen Carnforth^ as the location for its latest Retirement Living development, exclusively for those aged over 60. Choose between 20 stylish one-bedroom and 20 two-bedroom apartments within this gorgeous new proposed property.

Homeowners will be treated to a fully modern complex, equipped with lift access to all floors, a mobility scooter store on-site and 24-hour emergency call systems. The apartments have been decorated in a lovely contemporary style, complete with walk-in wardrobes, fully fitted kitchens, Sky/Sky+ and television connections, and double-glazed windows. There is also a homeowners' lounge for relaxing and socialising with your neighbours, as well as a guest suite for overnight visitors. A house manager is available during set working hours, if you need anything else.

This new Retirement Living development boasts a central location, backing onto the beautiful Carnforth Cricket Club. You'll be within walking distance of all of the town's main amenities, including a Tesco supermarket just 800m away, and a Boots and Aldi within a mile.

^Planning permission has been granted subject to completion of a final agreement between McCarthy & Stone and the Council which we expect to have completed shortly.

Local area

Located at the northeast end of Morecambe Bay, Carnforth is a pretty town with lots to see and do. Thanks to its close proximity to both the coast and the hills ' and several designated Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty ' Carnforth is a popular spot for walkers, cyclists and anyone else who simply enjoys the great outdoors.

The River Keer and the Lancaster Canal also pass through the town centre, so there are plenty of charming little spots for relaxing or soaking up the sun. From Carnforth you can access the canal network, which will take you to many surrounding villages and out into the stunning countryside. Trains run to the Lake District, Lancaster, Manchester Airport and Skipton ' making it easy to get out for a day trip or a quick holiday away from home.

Carnforth itself has many attractions, such as Leighton Hall, the ancestral home of the furniture maker Gillow, Carnforth Bookshop with more than 100,000 second-hand and antiquarian books, and of course Carnforth railway station, famously used by Oscar-winning film director Sir David Lean in his 1945 classic, Brief Encounter.

Another must-see attraction is the Nether Kellett Farmers Market ' it's held on the second Sunday of every month at the Village Hall and is a great place to pick up produce and homemade food, as well as to admire local arts and crafts. For other shopping, Carnforth High Street has a number of independent retailers, as well as restaurants, caf??s and pubs.
