Shared Ownership properties in Market Harborough

The south Leicestershire market town of Market Harborough offers a pleasant environment to bring up a family or as a base to commute to more larger towns and cities in the region. Its town centre has been helped in retaining its original character by the A6 Bypass which takes heavy goods traffic away from the centre. The pedestrianised town centre of this historic East Midlands town has a great selection of well-known high street shops, independent shops as well as cafés and restaurants. It also has a shopping centre and indoor market.

For sport and leisure Market Harborough is well served with a number of sports clubs that give opportunities for playing football, squash, rugby and cricket. There is also a local 18-hole golf course and a leisure centre has gym facilities as well as a swimming pool and sauna.

Located 15 miles south of Leicester and 10 miles north west of Kettering, the town has good transport links with, in addition to the A6, the A14 being nearby as is the M1 and M6. There are direct trains to Leicester, Nottingham, Derby, Leeds York and Sheffield. A train journey to Leicester takes less than 15 minutes.  There is also a direct train route to London St Pancras, a journey taking 70 minutes, which opens up possibilities to travel to mainland Europe solely by train. If you prefer to fly then East Midlands Airport is 50 minutes away by car.

There have been a number of proposals for new home developments on the edge of the town, in recent years. In early 2015, plans were approved to build 1,500 new homes at Airfield Farm and Barratt Homes already has a popular development at Farndon Fields with one- to four-bedroom new homes been built there. Redrow has two-bedroom up to five-bedroom new houses available at its development in Rockingham View.  There are also rental opportunities for those wishing to buy-to-let, the standard of property for renting is relatively high.

Highly regarded local schools include Robert Smyth Academy, Tresham College of Further Education or for younger learners there's Meadowdale Primary School and Little Bowden Primary School. There is also, of course, the University of Leicester within easy reach.

Market Harborough still has a village feel to it yet has all the necessary amenities desired for day-to-day living such as doctors, dentists and a pharmacy. At the same time, Leicester is just a short distance away for any other requirements. It's a town that has been expanding fast and presently offers some excellent opportunities for house buyers whether simply looking for value, a spacious but affordable family home or a place to retire in later years.

  Monthly Budget
Our monthly budget search provides a monthly cost estimate for the different ownership options available to you. These range from ‘outright purchase’, ‘shared ownership’ and ‘rent’ options. As with any property purchase you should seek independent financial advice.

For outright purchase the monthly mortgage cost estimate is based on an interest only mortgage at a 5.95% annual interest rate, over 25 years with a 10% deposit.

For ‘shared ownership’ the monthly cost is based on an interest only mortgage rate of 5.95% per annum over 25 years with annual interest of 2.75% on the unsold share.

For ‘rent’ the monthly cost is based on the rental from the landlord or Build to Rent organisation who owns the property.
