Ye Olde Two Brewers, The Coppleridge Inn and Amore are also well worth a visit as are the gastro pubs The Fontmell in Shaftsbury which offers a daily changing menu based on seasonality and the freshest local produce, and slightly further afield, the Beckford Arms in Tisbury and King John, Tollard Royal - all three are recognised by the Michelin Guide.

Education

Shaftesbury offers an excellent selection of both state and independent schooling for all age groups, from pre-school right through to sixth form.

The nearest primary school to the development is Shaftesbury CofE Primary, with Abbey CofE Primary and Motcombe CofE Primary also available within the town and both rated ‘good’ by Ofsted.

Most local children move on to attend Shaftesbury School, which is in the heart of the town and rated ‘good’ by Ofsted.

Salisbury offers a choice of city centre shopping, including Old George Mall and Cross keys Arcade, plus several out of town retail parks, while Yeovil has the Quedam Shopping Centre.

For an all-out splurge, Bristol is just over an hour’s drive, offering legendary big city shopping.

Transport

Shaftesbury is located midway between Salisbury in the east and Yeovil in the west, around 20 miles from each, with the South Coast towns of Poole and Bournemouth around 30miles to the south. The town lies at the crossroads of the main A350 and A30 routes. There are busses to all the surrounding towns.

The nearest access to the rail network is at Gillingham Station, around 5miles away. This lies on the South West mainline, with direct trains to London Waterloo in around 2hours, Salisbury in half an hour and Exeter in an hour and a half.
