About the Development

Surrounded by history and heritage, culture and countryside, Chichester is a fascinating place to call home, and Lavant View gives you easy access to all of it. Right on the doorstep of the South Downs National Park, yet just ten minutes from the ancient city centre, you are perfectly placed to enjoy the best of both worlds, with the stunning South Coast, less than ten miles away, adding to the amazing mix.

Chichester offers an excellent choice of schools, an easy commute to Southampton, Portsmouth and Brighton, and a year-round programme of arts and excitement to enjoy. Just two miles north of the city, Lavant View offers a choice of two, three and four-bedroom homes from the award-winning Heritage Collection, blending Arts and Crafts architecture with modern, family-friendly interiors. Redrow could Help to Sell your old home to get you moving even sooner.

Amenities

There are a number of major supermarkets in the city, all within easy reach of the development, including M&S Food, Sainsburys and Waitrose.

You’ll find GPs just half a mile away at Lavant Road Surgery (Sat Nav PO19 5RH, call 01243 527 264), with a choice of dentists available in the city, including the Family Dental Clinic (Sat Nav PO19 7JG, call 01243 697500).

Dining

As you would expect from a city with a strong tourist trade, Chichester has an excellent range of restaurants to choose from, from fine dining to family fun. Top of the range includes Brasserie Blanc, Cassons Restaurant, Potager Restaurant and The Crab and Lobster, while The Boston Tea Party, The Old Greenhouse, Viento Delevante and Reina Kitchen are also highly recommended. Head out of town and you’ll discover endless charming country pubs with first class food, including The Earl of March and the Royal Oak in nearby Lavant.

Education

We know how important local education is when it comes to choosing a new home for your family, and Chichester will not disappoint. The city has a good selection of well-respected schools at all age levels, as well as Chichester University close to the development. Young learners can choose from a number of Ofsted ‘good’ rated primary schools, including Lavant CofE Primary, The March CofE Primary and Jessie Younghusband Primary, while older children can apply to Chichester High School, Chichester Free School or the ‘outstanding’ rated Bishop Luffa School.

Chichester College offers a range of further education, while Chichester University offers degree and post-graduate specialisms in humanities, sport, musical theatre and education.

Leisure

Chichester has been a hive of activity since Roman times and today there is still so much to enjoy. The city has an interesting programme of festivals and fun to look forward to, including the 18day International Film Festival, the four-week Chichester Arts Festival and the traditional funfair that visits the town every October. You’ll also enjoy glorious Goodwood horse races, along with the Goodwood Festival of Speed held just to the north of the city.

Chichester Festival Theatre attracts top West End actors, while film fans can choose between a mainstream multiplex and the arthouse Chichester Cinema. For a breath of fresh air, you can explore the 600sq miles of the South Downs National Park, or grab your deckchair and head for the coast at classic seaside resorts like Bognor Regis. You can even reach out into space at the South Downs Planetarium.

Shopping

Chichester is based on a medieval layout, with four main shopping streets, North, South, East and West, converging on a central market cross. Chichester Market can be found in the streets on Wednesdays and in the Cattle Market Car Park on Saturdays. Southgate Pavillion is a modern mall with a wide range of national names and local independents, and there are more stores to explore in the historic Buttermarket on North Street. Those who prefer out of town shopping should head for the Portfield Retail Park, where you’ll find the likes of Currys, John Lewis and Dunelm.

Transport

Chichester lies on the main A27 coastal trunk road connecting Southampton (34m) and Portsmouth (19m) to the west with Brighton (30m) and Eastbourne (53m) to the east. The A3 heading north towards London is also within easy reach. There are regular busses from Lavant to Chichester which pass the development, and daily coach services from the city along the South Coast and into London.

Trains from Chichester Station, just two miles from the development, reach Portsmouth in 25minutes and Southampton and Brighton in around 50minutes. There are also direct trains to London Victoria in around an hour and a half. Trains from Chichester also connect to Gatwick Airport, making it easy to get away without expensive airport parking.
