About the Development

Located to the north of Wakefield, just a short drive from the city centre and within easy reach of both the M1 and M62 motorways, City Fields enjoys a delightful semi-rural location, while still benefitting from an excellent range of schools, services and shops.

This exciting new development will deliver a range of new 3 and 4 bedroom homes near Wakefield, from the award winning Redrow Heritage Collection. These much needed family homes are sure to be in high demand, so make sure you don’t miss out. Remember, you only need 5% deposit with Help to Buy and right now, Redrow could pay your Stamp Duty for you.

There are both a Nisa convenience store and a Tesco Extra store close to the development for your day-to-day needs, with many major supermarkets represented in and around the city centre, including Sainsbury’s and Morrisons.

For doctors, register with Eastmoor Health centre on Windhill Road (Sat Nav WF1 4SD, call 01924 327625) while for dentists try Tovey Little Dental Centre on Borough Road (Sat Nav WF1 3AZ, call 01924 374092).

For residents of City Fields, gastro pubs such as The Graziers, The Ferry Boat and The Thatched House all offer a tasty meal out without having to head into the city centre, with the riverside dining of The Stanley Ferry always popular on summer evenings.

In the city itself, Trip Advisor lists no less than 350 places to eat, all just a short taxi ride from City Fields, with Capri @ The Vine, Jose’s Tapas , Olive and Meze, and The Cow Shed topping the list, and Brazuca Rodizio Bar and Grill, the Kaye Arm, Iris and Amaia also highly rated.

City Fields lies within easy reach of a range of excellent state and private schools. For younger pupils, Wakefield Greenhill Primary has been rated ‘good with outstanding features’ by Ofsted, with Pinders Primary and St Austin’s Catholic Primary also rated ‘good’ and Heath View Community Primary yet to be rated.

For older pupils, Wakefield City Academy is just a short distance away and was recently rated ‘outstanding’ across the board, continuing a long tradition of excellence.

Wakefield College provides sixth form studies as well as a wide range of further education for adults, while Queen Elizabeth Grammar School for Boys and Wakefield Girls High School offer an independent alternative for secondary education.

There’s lots to do in and around Wakefield, with something for everyone. Lightwaves Leisure Centre in the city offers a choice of sports, with further opportunities for action on the 100acre water sports lake at Pugneys Country Park. Golfers are even better served, with Normanton Golf Course right on your doorstep at City Fields.

The city is home to the Theatre Royal, which has a diverse programme of shows and music throughout the year, as well as a Cineworld cinema at Westgate Retail Park.

The Hepworth Gallery, Wakefield Cathedral, the National Coalmining Museum and Sandal Castle are all popular attractions in or near the city.

Wakefield shopping has undergone a transformation in recent years, with the multi-million pound Trinity Walk Shopping Centre opening in 2011, to go with the existing Westgate Retail and Leisure Park and The Ridings Shopping Centre.

For a designer bargain, head for the J32 Outlet Village, where you’ll find sale-style savings all year round. Alternatively, for a bit of pure retail therapy, head to the shopaholic’s paradise of Leeds where you’ll find everything from international brands to curious and quirky independents.

Wakefield Westgate railway station is around a mile and a half from City Fields, with both the M1 (J41) and M62 (J30) within a three mile drive. Leeds is just 9miles to the north, with York a little further at 28miles. Castleford and Pontefract are under 10miles away, Barnsley is around 15miles and Huddersfield is around 20miles.

Trains from Wakefield Westgate will speed you to Leeds in just over 15minutes and York in 40minutes, with direct services to London Kings Cross in under two hours.
