Dining

As you would expect in a country location, there are endless charming village inns to explore in and around Milton. The local hostelry, the Plum Pudding, comes highly recommended, along with the Hart of Harwell, the Fox Inn at Steventon and the Oak at Didcot.

Didcot also offers a choice of international cuisine, including Al Gusto at the Orchard centre and Mira Spice Asian cuisine. Oxford has a world of flavours for every budget, from the finest dining to big name, family friendly restaurant chains.

Education

As the name suggests, Blaise Park couldn’t be more convenient for St Blaise CofE Primary School, with this OFSTED ‘good’ rated school right on your doorstep. You certainly won’t need the car for the school run! Alternatively, Harwell primary School is just a short drive away, and is also rated ‘good’.

There is no OFSTED rating yet for Aureus Secondary, because this brand new, £19million school has only just been built, offering brand new, state of the art facilities just a short bus ride from the development.

Leisure

With countryside this beautiful to explore, you don’t really need leisure facilities to fill your time. But if you do want something different to do, there’s plenty to choose from. Didcot is home to no less than three leisure centres, catering for a range of sports, and Drayton Park golf course is also just a short drive away. Milton even has its own non-league football team, Milton United.

Didcot is home to the Cineworld cinema and the Cornerstone Arts Centre, and there is much more culture to be found in nearby Oxford. Shopping

Didcot is home to the Orchard Centre, offering a good selection of shops and restaurants, while further afield Abingdon includes the Bury Street and the Peachcroft Shopping Centres. Also along the A34 you’ll find the out of town shopping of Fairacres Retail Park.

Nearby Oxford has an even wider variety of shops and malls, including the Westgate Shopping Centre and Templars Square, along with a popular market and many tourist orientated shops.

Transport

The village of Milton lies on the main A34 Oxford road, just 11miles south of the city. Abingdon is even closer at just 5miles, with Didcot the closest town just over 3miles away. Reading is around 22miles and Swindon around 27miles, with the M4 and M40 both within easy reach, at around ten and twenty miles respectively.

For many, the preferred transport will be the train, with Didcot Parkway just 3miles away, offering ample park and ride spaces. Trains from Didcot Parkway reach Reading or Swindon in around 15minutes, Oxford in 30minutes and London Paddington in just 45minutes, with regular services to all destinations. There is also a good bus service from Milton to Oxford.
